gift message for hampers help

Hi, we are looking to move to CScart. We are trying the demo but can not work out how to add a option where a customer can add a 'gift message' to an item.

We sell food hampers.



We would like each hamper to have an option where you can add a message if sending it to someone as a gift.



We then print the message onto a card for them.



The message neesds to show on the packing slip and invoice.



Any ideas would be must helpful.

This options is available in Magento, which we are also trying out, it allows the option to add a gift message on a per product level or to the intire order if sneding multiple gifts.

no one using a gift message ?

Same boat. We are looking into CS-Cart; we engrave nameplates and would need a text box to enter engraving for those items. Haben't dug that deep but hope it exists. Current site has a “personalized?” check box to enable that on an item by item basis.

You can use the options of the product or even better the global options for all similar options and open an option with text input.

That will work perfect for me and I'm assuming should as well for Wes. Product options look awesome once I got into them. Using Text Area type, requiring it, giving descriptive text for the pop up help should be all that's needed.



I will say that hard carriage returns in the textarea box aren't shown on invoices/pk lists. So if the customer buys 3 nameplates, enters 3 separate names in a text area box separated by CR, you might have trouble deciding how to separate their engraving into the 3 different plates since it's all on one line. You may have to ask that they truncate lines with odd character such as *, %, etc??

Or instead of using 1 text area you could use 3 or more just “text” boxes add text in the "inner hint " each that says first name here etc with descritptive messages.

That might be a better looking solution. I'll try it. Generally, on current system, if they are ordering 3 plates with 3 different names, they'll add 1 to cart & reorder another cart entry for the 2nd & 3rd anyway. So that would make multiple boxes look better and be clearer on invoice. Wasn't sure what inner hint did, but I'll populate it and go see!
