Questions:

  • Will there be a free verison of CS3? Will it include skins out of the box?
  • Will there be more skins included with PROFESSIONAL?

Hello!
  • Yes, CS-Cart 3 will be available in Community edition, which is free
  • All editions of CS-Cart 3 will ship with 1 skin included.

I want to install this version and i want to put products and prepare new shop becouse when this shop is done i want to have fresh install . is it possible or database in next release will change ?

We will release a special database import tool. It will allow you to transfer database from RC to CS-Cart 3 final.

So you can start filling up the store now, it will be possible to move all the products to the final version.

Skins are important for my decision.

We will try to provide more free skins shortly after the final release.

Hi All,

I've had a look at v3 and I like the new look. But I have a bit of a problem. I have a current site using CubeCart and was about to move over to CS and I will probably be customizing it quite a bit but it looks as though the theme won't be transferable from vf2 to v3. Any suggestions? I really need to start now as it's going to be a lot of work for me as I'm a bit of a hack when it comes to coding etc. Would doing a site on v2 be a wasted effort?

Thanks and great work too.

You are right, skins for CS-Cart 2.x are incompatible with the new version.

You have basically 2 options here:
  • create a skin for 2.x and stick with this version in the future
  • wait till CS-Cart 3 is out and create the skin in it
You could also start creating the skin in RC, but you should understand that there are some possible changes to come before the final release.

So, the decision is yours. I personally suggest you should use CS-Cart 3: skin making is more flexible and easy there anyway.

About the category position.
I am just wondering how to get the category list in the left as v224 ?
As you can see that, the top ceter menu cannot list all the category ?
So if it the category list can be in the left column will be much helper.. thank you.

You can easily put all your categories vertically in a block as it was in 2.2.4:
  • create a Categories block
  • set its template to Emenu (which is a vertical menu)
  • switch to Content and pick the Full tree filling
This'll do the trick. You can put this block anywhere.

Dear CS-Cart Team:

Will this v3 RC2 of the product have a better MC Editor? I mean, on version 2.21 there was an editor that could include tables and several other elements, but now, on version 2.2.4 I saw that they changed it. Will you take it again inn version RC 3.0?

CS-Cart 3 brings no more new WYSIWYG editors.

Hi kmolchanov,

Awesome news! I was hoping you guys would do this. It will really help all the people who have pre-purchased Ultimate Edition. Now we can proceed to populate our stores ahead of the final release without worry. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! :)

Thanks for the reply.

We have pointed out the bugs to CS-Cart multiple times. We even put it on the uservoice well over a year ago at...
http://cscart.uservo...-in-quickbooks-
...but now it sounds like you are coming out with version 3 and you still have the same buggy system that does not work and messes up Quickbooks for users. Sorry, but that is sad. We should not have to vote in order to get you to fix something that doesn't work properly.
Regards,
Jim

Hi Again,

I just wanted a clarification on a point from the Blog about the CS 3 Release

The blog has this statement... "Also, CS-Cart 3 RC is already available in Ultimate edition with multi-store functionality. Basically this is the final version, the work to be done further is mostly bug fixing and flaw polishing."

So are you saying that I can buy this item > download it & install it > and then build a website and the theme/skin might need slight modification only to get around some bug fixes?

Sorry for being pressing on this point but my first issue is designing a look for my website.

RC is a final version in terms of functionality. That means that no new features are going to be added to it.

It is though not the final version in terms of stability and readiness. So we do not guarantee that skins created on RC will work properly on the final version.

Nonetheless, you can use RC as a sandbox for your future work and to populate your future store with products.

We are preparing for a fresh (re)install so a major upgrade is a good news. Can anybody offer a feedback about speed difference between 2.x and 3.x ? We pay a lot of attention to this aspect.
Also, customizing the skin, how difficult was it, in case you played with it a bit.

Hi,

With the new layout manager, is there no way of a fluid design - full screen width? Everything seems still contained within a single column design - with a lot of whitespace wasted on either side..?

How will you configure a full screen width design in CS 3?
