What layout to edit for products.on_sale and products.newest dispatch pages?

I want to add the product filters block to the following pages:

index.php?dispatch=products.on_sale

index.php?dispatch=products.newest

there is an old post from 2017

but seems like core code changes or addons are required

I am afraid, there is no way to add filters to these pages. As for layout, you can create new layout pages for the products.on_sale and products.newest dispatch values. Do not forget about the Main content block
