I'm trying to upgrade a site from 2.1.4 to 2.2.1 and am having some troubles.
The upgrade process downloads the upgrade package, expands it, makes backup and everything. After the files are backed up and the package is created, you normally go to the next step by either pressing “Continue” or just waiting for the cart to just take you to the next step.
Unfortunately, when the cart continues, it goes to a 404 error page.
The URL is http://dev.mysite.com/myadmin.php?dispatch=upgrade_center.backup
I've checked the permissions and everything seems fine.
I've also cleared the cache, but that doesn't matter.
The site is hosted on Hostgator and is on their Business shared hosting plan.
By the way, of course I set up a development site and am trying to upgrade that before I touch the live site.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
Thank you,
Brandon

Hi Brandon,
Best that you contact CS-Cart Support for this, they should have a fix as a few other people have encountered the same issue. We had issues with our internal development server resulting in the same problem - never had the time to fix it, any input would be appreciated (2.0.15 → 2.1.0)
Hey Jesse,
Yeah, I read a thread from 2010 about this. TonyB gave some input, but the guy basically needed to contact CS-Cart. I was just kind of hoping that someone would have resolved this by now, but maybe not.
I think we'll just wait until tomorrow to see if anyone else has a solution. If I don't hear anything by tomorrow, I'll contact CS-Cart and then start playing email tag with them. It's just those damn 24 hour waiting periods that suck. Plus, they never give an answer the first time around so it always takes a couple to a few days. Stupid Russian time zone difference.
Anyways, we'll see. Hopefully somebody will come up with something.
Thanks,
Brandon
I don't know if this could be of help, but someone hosted in HG reported problems trying to upgrade using IE9:
check this post
(I doubt it, upgrade should be browser independent and must be a confusion, but…who knows!)
Thank you for the link, but I doubt it is my browser. I'm using FF 6 and I've done quite a few upgrades and this is the first one that I've seen this.
Kind of frustrating really.
Thanks again though,
Brandon
Just curious… Is the URL displayed in the address bar the same as the URL listed in the status area when the link is hovered over? Reason I ask is to determine if you have an .htaccess rewrite issue going on. Apparently the “adjusted” some of the .htaccess files and I think they goofed.
Tony,
Yes, the address is the same. This is actually between 2.1.4 and 2.2.1 so I haven't even looked at the 2.2.2 upgrade yet and that is where it seems people are having the .htaccess problems.
Good idea to look at the .htaccess though. To be honest, I haven't looked at it yet, but I think it is all just the standard stuff.
Thanks,
Brandon
Brandon, Why don't you just upgrade on your server if you don't want to wait on CSC?
That's what I might do, but I was still hoping for a solution to this problem since there is no guarantee that it will be any better on my server, although I'm sure it would be.
The problem has been the size of the site. The whole 2-3 gb thing kind of makes it hard and I'm not exactly an expert with SSH, but that is the direction I might have to go.
We'll see I guess, but I was just hoping to find a solution first.
Thanks,
Brandon
I'm assuming it's a server problem and that's why I tossed the idea.
Any fix on this yet? I have the same problem.
Well, not yet.
I submitted a ticket to CS-Cart and this is how they responded:
Thank you for your request.
Unfortunately, our workload is too intense at the moment. We will reply to your request at the first opportunity. I am sorry for any inconvenience.
Thank you.
So it looks like I might not have a choice to to try and transfer the site or something. Kind of sucks.
Thanks,
Brandon
I'm not CS literate enough to know whether my problem is related or not. It seems so but if not let me know and I'll start another thread.
I have tried to “Upgrade 2.1.4 - 2.2.1” however it never goes anywhere. When I engage the install button it just goes to a blank page indefinitely. If I go back there is in addition to the ongoing Notice A new version of CS-Cart is available! Please update now. the message Error Another upgrade process is running However the latter message disappears if I log out and log back in.
@johnwade - the messages are “sticky”. I.e. they won't go away during your current session until you click the X in the upper right corner.
I've never seen the Another upgrade process is running" error. So I would suggest that you logout and re-login which should allow you to start again. If it fails, find out where your PHP error_log file is related to your server (you might have to have your host help you here) and see if there are any errors that for that time of day that might help us see the problem. Unfortunately, white screens rarely tell anyone enough to help with.
Hi…Okay I had some update problems and had it stall with the same url (admin.php?dispatch=upgrade_center.backup) error. I also noticed you are using HostGator. CS-Cart said they fixed one small issue but the main problem was with the server.
Here's how it got fixed.
Go to chat support on hostgator and tell the technician you “need the rule 340163 whitelisted for domain.com as its hitting a mod_sec rule”
Your domain.com should be something like this http://www.domain.com/admin.php?dispatch=upgrade_center.backup
Cheers.

Just like johnwade, but I host with godaddy.
Do I still need to ask them to setup the rule 340163 whitelisted for domain.com as its hitting a mod_sec rule?
My host isn't Hostgator. It's site ground. Does it matter?

The problem was on my test site, but I smoothly upgraded to 2.2.2 in production site without anything changes.

I can confirm that this works. (Rule 340163).
Suggest inclusion of 390149 into the whitelist (changelog.txt update)

Hi, Jesse!
Could this help me with my problem?
I tried to upgrade from 2.1.4 to 2.2.1. When I press “Install” I get only blank page (without 404 error) and the url is this - “…&dispatch[upgrade_center.get_upgrade]…”
