Unable to upload Files using Local Method

Hello,

I am unable to upload files including Product images, insert images into editor for Description, etc. Either nothing uploads with no error message when attempting to upload a product image locally or when trying to upload an image into the Description box editor, I get a red box that says “Error No File Uploaded”

I get around this now by creating a folder in the images directory (not sure if this is ok, but it works) and then access this directory by selecting file from server. This works fine. I like segregaing all images related to a category into a separate folder.

How can I upload images from local PC? The file permisions for the image folder and subfolders is: 755, as determined and set by host. I have seen other recommended settings such as 777. Other comments on forum suggest that they could vary depending on the host and how their servers are configured, so I use the hosts recommended settings.

I think I was able to upload locally at one time. the only thing that chaged is that I added ssl to both customer side and Admin side. Have no other problems (except unrelated SEO issue), no other error messages and SSL works fine.

Any suggestions?

Using version 2.012.

Thanks,

Bob

Hello,

I found my own answer to the problem, but would like know if this is a bug, if there is a work a round or if https in the admin is worthless.

The answer is that this problem happened after adding an SSL certificate and enabling ssl in both the customer side and also in the Admin. (first two check boxes in Administration settings).

I just unchecked the second box and now can use local method of uploaded images.

I thought that since I do off line Credit card Processing it would be good to have the admin under ssl.

Would like opinions on whether the https for admin has any benefits or not.

Thank you,

Bob

Absolutely!

People often overlook the fact that they are not only responsible for protecting your customers credit card details, however, they are also responsible for the protection of all other confidential customer & company details being added online!

Not only your customers details, but details related to your company as well, user logins, passwords, etc, etc…

Struck,

This is what I thought. Then, what is the work a round to have the Admin using https and still be able to upload files using the local method.

Seems ridiculous to keep checking and unchecking the box for admin https everytime I want to upload images.

Is there a setting that is incorrect or is this a bug?

Thanks,

Bob

Hello Bob,

I have never had any problems uploading local images, had SSL activated on site from day one, so I am not sure.

You could easily try changing your permissions on the images folder only to 777 & see if it makes a difference.

Follow-up.

I upgraded to 2.013 and now I can upload using the local method. Have no idea what changed.

Of course, the lay out on the product detail page is not the way I want it.

Hi, I have 2.12, moved to another web hosting, and had similar problem - cannot upload product images from local file system. I know that this is somehow connected with user rights. I set to the folder images and all sub folders 777, but doesn’t help.

SSL turned off.

Any ideas?

Sergen,

I have no idea what “fixed” my problem. All I did was upgrade to 2.0.14 and the problem went away. I did not touch permissions. Maybe the upgrade changed something. However, any permissions that may have changed during the upgrade, was automatically changed back by the host which monitors permissions. Not sure if using 777 for images, I think not.

Bob

After upgrading to 2.1, I’m having issues uploading images too. For some reason, CSC can’t create the subdirectories inside the /images/detailed directory even though images and detailed directories both have 777 permissions. Were you able to figure out the issue?

Hello,

I have a cs-cart 2.0.8 installation. When I try to upload an image in “/images” directory is ok. When I try to upload in a subfolder, from my local pc, it dont upload it. In fact, in ftp I see that the file is 0 bytes. Also, in elfinder it won't show (in subfolders) the image thumbnail. Is it a bug? How we can fix it?
