Terrible service at Bug Treat

I don't know, Bug Treat was pretty good to me. I bought their template, and originally did have alot of problems. But their support fixed everything pretty fast. I had a few more problems with it afterwards, and I contacted, but I managed to figure it out myself right after I e-mailed them.

Overall, it was pretty good service I think, especially looking at time zone differenes.

Do note that if you install an addon, it will be installed into the currently active skin only.

If you switch to a different skin that was previously installed, then that addon will not be present in the recently switched-to skin.

If you install a new skin (from the repository), then all currently installed addons will be installed (even if they are InActive).

I worked with BugTreat, and they have been nothing but great. I had 2 of my websites fully re done by BugTreat. The communication is great and the price was more than fair for the work they did. IMO they are highly recommeneded.

Well shit… that explains why everyone complains so much about custom skins…

If a custom skin is in the skins_repository and built as a real production skin, then doing an install of that skin will indeed put all the currently installed addon code into the skin (active or disabled).

The issue comes up when a custom skin is just a copy placed in the skins directory (not the correct way to do it). One can work around it by going to the previous skin's directory and copying the customer, admin and mail “addons” sub-directories to the new skin. But this is a manual step to account for a non-production new skin. Alternatively, you could copy the skins/ to the skins/custom_skin directory and then simply install the custom skin over the top of that.

One could argue that the proper behavior would be to install an addon in all skin directories whether they are 'active' or not. But then, if you've done your custom skin as an addon (which is what I prefer to do) then that blows that out of the water.

So bottom line is you need to understand how the system works to work within it based on your desired result. Sometimes it's just “sensitive”!

So what would the best pratice be for installing a new skin ?

  1. Unistall all addons ?

  2. Copy new skin over

  3. Change to new skin

  4. Install addons ?

No, if it's a skin that is “installed” from the skins_repository then the system takes care of everything for you to have all currently “installed” addons configured properly (regardless of status).

But if someone just gave you a “skins” directory version then you will need to work with the skin provider to ensure that the 'addons' sub-directories of the prior skin are copied/installed in their proper locations.

One of the worst and best things about forums like this is anyone can come on a complain about your service. I've been in business for 30 years and in that time I've had complaints from people who seemed perfectly happy with the work when I had finished. I even had one woman who wouldn't let me in her house to finish a job with no reason.

So for the above reason I feel I want to let people know that this week Bugtreat have been doing some work for me. This work was done quickly and above the agreed detail at no extra cost. Communication was not perfect but this may be down to the time difference and my own patience but certainly within expectations.

I wish to thank Bugtreat for their help and look forward to working with them again.

Futher glitches include that all addons just suddenly stopped working even un-custom ones go to a products page to have a look. None of the tabs are loading. Easy scroll pagination just suddenly stopped.

Also when logged in - it doesnt say your name still says Guest how is a customer expected to see his past orders. When I try to add My Account block it shows the exact same thing as the one in the header?
