T-Shirt / Product Designer Addon

I can get $1000 into this and would love to see it back on track, think of the possibilities.

John

I’m going to add this to the ideas page. From what I can see this will never be done as an addon. my site could do with it as it has a vinyl cutting service and I’m thinking of other bespoke services that would greatly be improved with this mod.

NOW ADDED TO IDEAS.

WAITING TO GET IT ACCEPTED.

PLEASE ADD YOUR VOTE THERE.

If your serious we’ll put it back on schedule. I don’t think this addon would ever make it into CS as default because it is really a specialty or niche market addon that only a handful of individuals need. I would like to have the addon myself for custom engraving, laser and vinyl cutting as well. The addon will also work with custom printing, t-shirts ect…

I am serious about this, all i would like to know is how long, how much and rough outline of features. I reckon that once a rough outline of features etc is available more people will chip in. I understand the effort you put in and it is much appreciated by amatuers like me.

I am no way a coder but this add on would be popular with every cutter/engraver/embroiderer/printer out there.

Lets get it done.

John

John can you tell us which product designer is out there that you like, that you would want this addon modeled after, something like:

Cartisien Interactive – Full Stack Web, Mobile, & Software Development

I like this one:

However we can make this much more professional looking, and even easier to use, I like this style because it’s more like a product configuration / designer.

We need to know everyone’s thoughts, ideas and most importantly the type of business you plan on using this addon for. We have to design the addon in such a way that it is compatible for several different types of businesses - Sno

Hell, I’d probably chip in another $1000 or so if it was generic enough to use in the decal field which it should be. I have been saving websites I like and I think the mod should be able to fit what I need as long as it isn’t too T-Shirt specific. Ideally it should (for me) work something like this site: http://www.miraentuinterior.com/index.php?categoria=2&seccion=catalogo_detalle&articulo=95

You go to the product page and the customer can pick the color surface the decal is going to be installed on. Even better if this could also have an image as an option. And then they can pick the color of the decal too which shows the preview image.

As Sno said, this is quite a big (niche) market when you figure in custom printers, engravers, shirts, decals, etc.

yea it will work in the decal or vinyl field. If both of you guys are serious then we have $2500 in commitments so far, that’s pretty much a little more then half the cost of the addon, we wouldn’t need but 4 more people at $500/each or 8 people at $250/each and we’re set, who else is in and how much can you donate?

We’ll get preliminary screenshots together and everyone involved will have a voice in the project development, the project will be designed for each of our needs, a project of this magnitude will take time to put together so give me some time, we’ll need to get the screenshots together and detailed description of the addon for a finalized and exact quote from cs - Sno

I’m serious. Hopefully some others will realize how much money this could potentially make them for such little investment.

Well I’m a starter in this side of the business and i know it would help sales and make the site more user friendly and professional.

so far made 25$ so would be willing to donate $250.

I think T-shirt Design Lab - Design Your Own T-shirts & More

is pretty good too,

but am open to all suggestions

But also as IsIT says, as long as it will have the ability to insert other products not just T Shirts, I do T Shirts, mugs, engraving, signs etc etc.

Looks like we could be on our way.

John

We do decals and shirts. I would be willing to help start it with $250.00

I’d be willing to commit to at least $250 to the project and depending on the timing, maybe even $500.

I would need it for decals and t-shirts.

For decals, I would like to upload fonts of my picking and have the preview in realtime of text a customer inputs in a box. Something like this -http://www.decalfx.com/custom_decal_maker.php

Here is the best online designer I have seen for custom lettering.

http://quickstickers.com/designonline/

Here is another that has some useful tools too.

http://www.edecals.com/custom_decal_designer/instant_sticker_designer.html

What I like about quickstickers:

-All on one page

-Size is calculated based on height or width (EXTREMELY useful)

-Background, price and fonts are refreshed instantly (Yay!)

What I don’t like about quickstickers:

-Typing doesn’t automatically change unless you refresh (not a huge deal)

-Checking the “Reverse Cut” box doesn’t flip the design on screen

-No slant, outline, or shadow options

What I like about eDecals:

-Real-time changes to what you type

-Ability to slant decal shown (though I’d like to slant right AND left)

-Ability to Outline, Shadow, etc. shown

What I like about DecalFX:

-All fonts are shown on the page…but that’s about all that I really like.

Just something to take into consideration as they all have their good qualities.

These are all good sample, we’ll take the best of these and improve upon the worst. The only tricky part about this addon is we have to tailer it that it will meet everyone’s needs, but we’ll figure it out. The most important part is we need to make it very intuitive and easy for the customer to quickly design a custom product without being confused by and over complicated system. This is going to be a fun project - Sno

“This is going to be a fun project”. Sno

You have a weird sense of “fun”. I think I’d rather pull my eyes out with a rusty fork.

Glad to see your up for the challange.

I was also wondering it it should be done in two parts in order to get it out quicker. In the first stage things that can be accomplished quickly followed up by an fuller update later. This looks like being a very long project otherwise.

How much do we need now Sno and when and how is payment Due

JOhn

I too am curious how to make payment on this so we can get the ball rolling.

My main concern with the project is going to be the upgrade process from image based products in a live store to the preview based products. Hopefully there will be an easy way to do this since I have 4000+ products on the site. It’s still a long ways off but would be nice to take this into consideration.

It’s great to see some real interest in this, but we should write the recipe before we bake the cake…

Here is another one but hopefully it would be easier to use than this one.

http://www.speedgraphics.net/visual_vinyl/vv.php

The Speedgraphics one is nice since it does so much but as you said CutRite it isn’t really user friendly. It’s like trying to have someone work Photoshop when they don’t even know how to use MS Paint. But if we can take all the things that work well with even the bad ones, we are starting to get somewhere.
