T-Shirt / Product Designer Addon
I am no longer interested in a licence after reading the Partial Detailed Description of the Product Designer Addon.

The addon is not going to work for my needs, which will mainly be greeting cards design, where I need a template already set up with all the image place holders and text place holders. The customer will just fill out all the text fields, upload the required number of photos and press update.
That’s why I labeled it as only a “partial” description because I don’t have time to write a full one:

The addon will work for you, just because we don’t have a “greeting card mode” doesn’t mean it won’t work.

You can set the “canvas” size in the administration panel, you set this to the size of your greeting card. You then upload a background image which would be the greeting card itself. The admin can identify printable areas on the “canvas”. The customer can then design away by adding fonts, images, cliparts and they can rotate, re-size, change colors ect…

If this doesn’t work for you for only $150 then nothing ever will - Sno

Thanks Sno!!

How would you guys prefer to have the stretch control buttons:

Option A:

In Option A you can stretch the design up/down while left/right movement is “fixed” and vs. versa.

Option B:

In Option B you can stretch the design in all directions with no fixed movement.

Which do you prefer?

Here are the latest batch of screen shots sent to the developers:

If anyone has ideas put together a screen shot and post it here, Thanks - Sno

Sno,

The reason I am purchasing this is to do engraving like this. When the customer types, I want it to show up on the item selected for engraving.

Thanks,

Adam

I think option B is less confusing.

I like option B as well. It is a much cleaner look.

Brandon

  1. B is simplest
  2. A gives more customization possibilities but also more problems when cutting and 90% of people will be happy with B.

    My answer is B. K.I.S.S

Suppose it would be better if it could be a option in the admin.

Hi Adam, the developers are going to add a fourth mode for engraving “fixed” objects like this. You’ll be able to define the input fields and character lengths as shown. This mode will also work with any object type where the text needs to be fixed like business cards, greeting cards, pens ect…

The design controls will be Option B:

Thanks - Sno

Was wondering if people would prefer not to have the rotate as an option as it might make the job their doing harder ie engraving (which i guess is set up to do straight horizontal lines).

Again was wondering if there could be a switch in the back end to disable this being shown (on a per item basis). I’m sure some people want it but might make other jobs impossible if the customer orders it rotated. (I’m not saying i can think of any but it might affect some people).

Stretch should also be selectable if the admin requires it. It would be great for highly customizable vinyl decals which had to fill a certain space with no large gaps around.

Arching the text would be a good one, we do lots of Arched text as is a good way to get more text in less horizontal space.

Hi Sno,

Would this also work with text area as the input field?

Could it also be set up for file upload where the image(s) need to be in a “fixed” position on the background template, such as a greeting card?

Thanks

Hi Antony, Yes, that is what the above images jegesmaci posted are showing and I talked to the developers and they are adding a 4th mode (free) that will enabled fixed type objects where engraving can only be placed in specific areas, Thanks - Sno

Hello Sno,

I don’t see my name in the list we talked last week on email and i paid then later that night my friend also paid.

I have also a few idea’s maybe you all think if the are needed.

  1. When a customer upload a image it checks if the uploaded image is good quality to use, and in admin the admin can then press button make .eps illustrator file or pdf file so its easier to handle.

  2. Is there also a text bend option ?
  3. Can price for text on t-shirt be set per line

say one line is $ x,-

    two lines are $ x,-

    etc.
  4. If a customer wants a chest logo it will be cheaper then a A3 format full color on t-shirt. is this possible to set in admin ?

Sorry for my bad english  hope you understand my questions.

This mod is going in a very nice direction! I love the engraving part in fixed areas. This part alone has the potential for many other things way beyond engraving.

I know I’ve had comments throughout and got cold feet when I was questioning whether I was going to stick with CS or not. I believe this mod is what would not only cause us to finally make the jump and upgrade from 1.3.5 sp 4, but I believe it may be enough to keep us with CS and not jump to a different shopping cart.

We have worked in the admin with a few different “online designers”. One of them that worked with OSCommerce had very poor output, but the rest had good enough output to allow us to be able to print directly from the file created by the customer. I know on large items this may be difficult, but we always print smaller objects that this works great for. With that being said, the output was able to be done in 1 of 2 ways. It would allow me to create a jpg/png/tif or it would allow me to create a PDF. The PDF worked great in most cases but we worked with the image formats just fine too.

I’ve never had an online designer program output to .eps.

BTW, I have not paid yet, but I would vote option B. The easier you keep it, the broader your audience.

@ Clips, we are working each day with designs from customers but if they start uploading jpg’s with black background and you need to put it on a white tshirt then its easier if we have a .eps we can then easly enlarge it because all our full color prints are around 30cm width, so we get allot of customer who upload us a 300px design this aint going to work. it will look great on designer but we cant work with it.

There are some designertools that let the admin pick what output he wants including .eps.
