I am planning on returning from Shopify to CS-Cart.

Is this new function suitable for single license users ?

Is this new function suitable for single license users ?

Hello!

Yes, sure. This add-on is available in both CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor.

Hi guys.

I can now see 4.15.1 in the files area at the Help Centre but there is no sign of it in my upgrade centre.

It was uploaded to help centre 29 June 2022

How long ( on average ) before I see it as an available upgrade at my store ?

As usual, we hand out upgrade packages in limited numbers for the first few weeks after the release. But then we lift that restriction. So if you don’t see this upgrade in your Upgrade Center yet, please check the update page later.

Well that was worth waiting for....NOT.

Not too sure if this will suit me at all.

It works well but not if there are existing products and features.

I did a small 4 product import and the bloody thing created a duplicate feature list
which will probably mess up filters.
We sell clothing and one feature is Designer so I ended up with 2 Designer features

with the duplicate containing the imported designer names.

Also it completely messed up the image transfer as they were all over the place

mixed up across just 4 imported products.

It has no chance of assigning categories because Shopify uses Collections
and they are not part of the file exported from Shopify.

Oh well I guess it's back to plan A.

Thank you for the feedback! I have forwarded it to the product managers, so probably your comment could be taken into account, when the add-on will be developed further.

Hi guys. It has been over a month now.
I know you are busy but.....

Have you been able to create a 'useful' Shopify to CS-Cart add on.
Currently it mixes up images and won't upload Features.

You can use my Shopify store for testing if you wish.

Just curious.

Has any CS-Cart user been able to get the Shopify import to work properly ?
Apart from the non-existent manual this import simply does not work.

I can accept that Categories can't be imported but it would be nice if the rest worked.

Images get scattered all over the place with the only correct placement being the first image

for the product. All the rest can end up anywhere except with the correct product.

Guys...you should really design manuals in collaboration with users who are

not coders.

I have muddled my way through and can now import my Shopify products by adding

a few extra steps.

EXPORT ALL PRODUCTS FROM SHOPIFY AS ‘PLAIN CSV FILE.

ADD COLUMN TO LEFT CALLED ‘SORT’ & FILL WITH NUMBERS.
SORT ALL BY TITLE AND ADD MISSING SKU’s
COPY THIS FILE AND CALL IT ‘IMAGES’.
CONTINUE WITH THIS FILE.
SORT BY TITLE AND REMOVE ALL ROWS WITHOUT TITLE.
REMOVE ALL IMAGE FILES BUT LEAVE HEADINGS IN PLACE.
USE THIS FILE FOR ‘SYNC’.
IMAGES FILE.
I have included this IMAGES step because the current Import doesn't show
Pair Type in it's conversion dropdown.
SORT BY ‘IMAGE POSITION’
CHANGE ALL 1’s TO M’s
CHANGE ALL OTHER NUMBERS TO A’s
SORT BY ‘SORT’ ASCENDING TO RESTORE ORIGINAL ORDER.
RESHAPE FILE TO DISPLAY THE FOLLOWING HEADINGS:
Product code Pair type Thumbnail Detailed image
GO TO IMPORT > PRODUCTS ( deprecated ) > IMAGES
Cleanup: TICK
CSV delimiter: Comma
Select this file
IMPORT
NOW FOR THE LOONNNGGG SLOG.
NO CATEGORIES CAN BE TRANSFERRED ( CS-CART CAN’T HANDLE ‘COLLECTIONS’ )
NO COLOUR CAN BE TRANSFERRED ( BECAUSE IT DIDN’T EXIST IN SHOPIFY )
EACH PRODUCT MUST BE UPDATED ONE BY ONE.

Hi. I'm terribly sorry for the delay. It seems that your post got treated as "feedback" (because of "Collections"), and the "bug" part about images getting scattered got overlooked. :( The answers are long overdue, so I'll try to address it as best I can.

For the moment, the "Import from Shopify" add-on can help with the initial upload of products. It is a one-time operation, and it assumes that products are uploaded into an empty store. That allowed us to easily create things like product features and variations.

To make regular syncing possible will likely take some extra and more complex development on our part. Like matching certain features and variants in CS-Cart with their counterparts in Shopify.

Also it completely messed up the image transfer as they were all over the place
mixed up across just 4 imported products.

Could you elaborate by what you mean by "all over the place"? Is it:

A. The main image of a product becomes the additional image, and vice versa.
B. The image of one product gets assigned to another product.
C. Something else?

It has no chance of assigning categories because Shopify uses Collections
and they are not part of the file exported from Shopify.

Yes, that's a limitation of the Shopify CSV file, and we ran into it during development. The only thing that could potentially be imported in Shopify's CSV as an equivalent of categories are "Product Types". But as far as we know, few people use it.

The silver lining is that in CS-Cart, you only need to assign categories once, and the product list now allows you to do it in bulk.

----------------------

P.S. Messages at the forum can often go unaddressed; we'd only be able to answer every single one if we stopped working on CS-Cart itself. But there are other channels with a guaranteed reply from CS-Cart. If you encounter a bug, there are 2 good ways to report it:

• Submit a bug report at the bug tracker. It's free, but processing may take a while longer, and our options to reproduce the issue are limited. For example, we don't ask for access credentials through the forums, and only test issues on our own installations.

• Contact our Customer Care department via Help Desk. It's not always free, but the replies come sooner, and we have more ways to investigate the issue and help.

Thank you for your time Ikoshkin as I fully realise you people are busy elsewhere.

Yes Shopify is a strange beast with it's Collections.

Regarding image imports.

Essentially the .csv import from Shopify does not assign SKU's to additional images

so during the import the main image gets correctly assigned to the product but

the additional images appear to get randomly scattered.
I have had to assign SKU's to additional images for the import to work although this

actually works when a separate images files is imported using Import ( deprecated ).

I tried assigning SKU's to the original exported Shopify .csv file.

Main image correctly assigned but additional images still not so.

btw I have edited my walk through in post #8

To reproduce and try to fix the problem, we'll need:

- A copy of the unmodified CSV file from Shopify, which you're trying to import into CS-Cart.

- The name of any product from the file that gets wrong images after import. Just to know what to check first.

You can send that info either here, or through our Help Desk.

As requested.

A .csv file containing 3 products as exported from Shopify.

Hope you good people can sort it out.
You will find that the main image attaches to the correct product

but additional images don't.

Ally jacket has 1 main & 5 additional images

Allanah Hill has 1 main & 6 additional images

Adidas has 1 main & 3 additional images

products_export.csv

Hi good people.

Any luck yet getting the Shopify import to work correctly ?

Hello,

Sorry, with all the work associated with the recent security update, I forgot to reply here. Thanks to your file and the details you provided, the issue was confirmed, and a fix will be in the works. We'll let you know here once there is any news.

P.S. Again, terribly sorry for the delays. If you encounter any issues in the future, the quickest free way to report them would be the bug tracker.

Thanks for responding here Ivan.

Here was I thinking you guys spent all day gossiping and drinking tea :)

Hello!

Problem with extra images import is fixed in the 4.15.2 release.

To fix you can use the patch:

https://gist.github.com/danielborzov/7b355e1b9dc8603459eb5718eea6af31

You can read about how to apply the patch in our documentation: https://docs.cs-cart..._diff_file.html

So...if I wait until 4.15.2 is available then I don't have to worry about applying patches ?

Yes, for sure

I guess 4.15.2 won't show up in my store's Upgrade Centre for a little while.

I can see it in my file area at Help Desk but don't feel like a complete install...lol

Yoiks... it has been in my Help Desk file area since Oct 12, 2022
How much longer before I see it as an available upgrade in my store ?

Yes I have 'refreshed available upgrades'.

The download slots have a day quota and we lift the restrictions after a two weeks since the release date. Check the upgrade center page tomorrow, and also check the Administration :: Logs page (just in case there is some downloading error).
