Shipping Heavy Packages

I use real time shipping with my cs-cart. It appears that cs-cart does not have the function of shipping in multiple boxes. The items I sell individually are not very heavy but since I sell to my retailers the total order weight often exceeds 150 lbs.

When I have an order that the total weight exceeds 150 lbs I get this message in my shipping area “Unfortunately no shipping options are available for your location.

Please contact us and we will see about delivering to you.”

Has there been a fix or solution for this issue. I have used 3d cart in the past that has the option to use multiple boxes and I find it only logical that any shopping cart system should be able to provide this function.

If any one knows of a solution or add on that will resolve this issue please share it with me.

Yes it’s broke, yes it sucks, and no, there’s no fix. You vote to get it on the roadmap here http://cscart.uservoice.com/forums/40782-general/suggestions/502983-shipping-add-support-for-multi-box-shipments-and-?ref=title but unfortunately, it doesn’t look like they are planning to fix it in 2.1 so who knows when this ridiculous problem will be fixed.

Well, you could get the weight value when it gets sent to the shipping company for a quote.

Example:

Customer’s cart weight - 150kg

Ship limit is 80kg (81kg would say that it is not available…)

So:

You change the weight variable from 150 to 79kg. In the rules you set that 79kg quote price would be plus $50 or so.

Not very flexible but at least doable where the customer get at least some ship. pricing back…

You could set up a manual shipping method for orders over 150lbs.

Yo Dog,

If you read my posts in this thread you will find a very good solution to the 150 Lb weight limit issue when using realtime shipping rate calculations.

I hope that cs-cart will address this issue in a future upgrade. To work around this issue I use UPS Ground for heavy shipments over 150 Lbs as a manual shipping method. I used a UPS zone map for shipments from my area and enter a location in my admin area for each ups zone. Then in each zone I added all zip codes for each zone with wild cards after the `1st three numbers. Then in my manual UPS Ground shipping method I entered a cost per lb shipping rate which corresponds with my UPS Ground shipping rates from my area to the different zones. I have my live rate UPS Ground shipping method stop at 150 lbs and my manual UPS Ground shipping method start at 150.01 lbs.

I am a new user of CS-Cart. We chose it because we really liked the integration of AJAX and I felt it would be more reliable than open source solutions. It has been most dissapointing to see the user community clammoring for what seems like simple and obvious capabilities and nothing happening. We WILL be looking for another solution if we don’t see an improvement in the trend for providing real solutions.

We should not have to vote on capabilitites that should ALREADY be part of the software. And we certainly should NOT have to pay hundreds of dollars to get those solutions done for us if it is something that should already be part of the base product.

We love CS-Cart. We don’t love all the missing little things that would make it the RIGHT solution.

We have been with CS for some time now and love it, but there are some SILLY short falls, which STOP CS from moving from a fantastic cart to the ONLY cart!!!
