SEO Addon

I’m using a shared SSL and whenever I turn on the SEO function from the Admin Control Panel we have an issue with trying to navigate out of the secure area.

Example Product: (Cell Phone Accessories Category ID#129

The below link appears when the SEO function is turned off: Allows the user to go in and out of the secure area with no problems.

The same product {cell phone accessories} the link below appears when the seo function is turned on. It does allow the user to navigate to the secure area but does not allow them to navigate out of the secure area. Instead it redirects them to a blank server (default) page.

The reason for this inquiry is that we are having problems with GoogleBase, we have 361 active products but GoogleBase only recognizes 83 of them. We have checked everything else including verifying the sitemap and this is the only thing that we have not examined yet.

Thanks!

I could be wrong, but when navigating through products and categories you won’t be using SSl anyways. Basically you’ll be on SSL for the cart and checkout pages and maybe your login, but that should be it.

For example, when I go to the first link I get redirected to the non SSL “part” of the site.

The second link brings me to the page you talk about. I don’t think it really matters though since you shouldn’t ever be able to go to that link anyways.

As for the google base thing, I am kind of right there with you. I have a lot of products that don’t show up. I wish I had an answer to this.

Brandon,

I guess what I’m trying to say is that when the SEO function is turned on and the user places an item in to the shopping cart that part works just fine. However, once there’re inside the secure area and decide to empty their shopping cart {by clicking on the “continue shopping” button} with the SEO function turned on they cannot return to our home page. Instead the script or something inside the .htaccess folder redirects them to the secure server default page which is blank.

Oh! Something else we just noticed, after empting their shopping cart the user can click on the “Home” link from the secure area and return to our home page. This whole issue sounds kinda weird but there has to be someting out there that we are missing!!!

I’ve turned the SEO Function back on feel free to run a test if you want using this link.

My guess is that it has something to do with your shared SSL. Normally with an SSL cert your domain doesn’t change (just the https) so when you try to go back to your product with just the https you are redirected to http.

I hope that makes since?

Unfortuately this is way above my head. I wish I could help with the redirects, but I don’t know how to do them.

Why not just by an SSL cert? You can buy one through godaddy for $29.99. This way your customers will never have to be on the shared cert and will only see your domain.

Sorry I couldn’t be more help,

Brandon
