Hello,

How do I remove the "Show language in the URL" from the default language?

I have a domain.es

I selected "Show language in the URL"

My Backend default language is spanish, so I don't want the /es/ to show up

I don't want this, example domain.es/es/

I do want the language URL for other languages, example domain.es/en/ that is perfect! I would just like to remove the default language url.

I am afraid, additional code modifications are required to do it. It is not possible to configure built-in SEO module in such a way

Thanks for the reply. I just see that most sites multi language, do not use "Show language in the URL" for their "default language"

The problem is I have a very old site with good SEO and I want to make it multi languge....but adding the "/es/" to my default language will create thousands of 404 not found

I wish to find a solution for this. Thanks.

I think 301 redirect in the .htaccess file can be a solution for you. The rule is

if URL does not contain /**/ after domain, add /es/ after domain

Just find someone who can create correct condition for you

Okay thanks. I am just trying to avoid 301 redirect as it will cost me about 15% in drop in search engines. I might just do the site one langugae and add english in the future.
