A new field for “Manage Products” called “Release Date” that basically makes it so that only those products that are already released will be visible.
Also another listmania option called “Coming Soon” that shows a chosen number of “most-soon to be released” products.
We have something similar for two of our sites running custom software. Each product has a “Date available” field which determines if a product is placed on a “Coming soon” page in addition to appearing in a category with a Coming Soon tag and displaying the Date available on the product detail page. If an item is backordered, it shows the expected date available on the product detail page but does not place it on the Coming Soon page.
