rel="publisher"

I'm trying to read up on rel=“publisher” and rel=“author” and trying to understand how best to implement this on my site. Yes, I'm late to the Google+ party.

As I understand it, I can claim all my site's content in the Google serps by adding either a author or publisher tag (or both!) to my site pages. Should I add one or both of these to every page in my site? The publisher tag would point to my business's Google+ page and the author tag would point to my Google+ personal profile page.

Also, should I use the Alt-Team's rich snippets add-on for better representation in the Google serps or does this only apply if I have lots of product reviews (which I don't).

I'm a bit confused as to how to proceed, so I'm turning to the experts on this forum. Thanks in advance for your help.

Add a link on your site, such as the footer or a sidebar, to your business Google+ page, like so:

http://plus.google.com/12345678910/?rel=publisher

To get the best out of the 'author' functionality, you'll need some other quirks. I am almost done with the store conversion now so just need to migrate recent customer/order/stat info, then it'll be time to go live. Then I'll be able to publish all the necessary changes to make which will use all of the schema Google currently uses - products, reviews, articles, news, events, etc.

What should the link say? Does this go on every page?

I've read in some places that you should put this in the head section of the page as a kind of meta tag. Is that true?

Use a little image (the G+ icon) and hyperlink it to your G page.

Grant, are you ready to show us this yet?

Would love to say I have had the time to write this all up but things have been a little hectic of late. It's yet another work in progress, but I'm sure I'll get there soon.
