Question for all sellers: Promotions: Coupon codes, Free Shipping

Can someone please explain to me why anyone that has purchased the multi-vendor version would not want their vendors to have access to their own promotions??? (coupons, free shipping, etc., a lot of options in the promotions section.)

For you users using the Professional version, could you imagine it without being able to offer promotions of any kind?

I’m looking at the Ideas User Voice and only 8 people have voted for this. I’ve looked into a mod for this feature to be added and the prices are astronomical from multiple coders. We need more votes for this feature to be added. If you have not voted please do so here… http://cscart.uservoice.com/forums/84333-multi-vendor/suggestions/1327217-vendors-need-their-own-coupon-codes?ref=title

Multi vender version was perhaps the best option for me. But if I went for a cart that did that it sure wouldn’t be this one yet. I looked at what you get for your money and for me it just didn’t addup.

I don’t see why adding on venders has to make the price 350% more expensive.

Even Cs-cart’s own comparision chart can only come up with added suppliers and shipping options for venders as the difference between pro and MV versions. So I suspect 300% of that 350% extra is just licence to use rights.

Perhaps it’s due to the complexity of adding into the Multivendor version. Often new software is released lacking functionality in order to get it on the market. Why not ask them if it’s on their todo list.

kickoff3pm, good to see you here. I’m mXc on the PPB forum.

Hi chap, ya this make you realise just what value PPB is. Although the learning curve is steeper then I’ve known. And I’ve installed every cart on the market at least once, still easier then Magneto. From a store owners point of view Magneto is a complete nightmare IMO but because it’s cheap and has ready made features all the devs push it - because it eat resource hosts push it too

Anyway back to this, I’m glad I’ve found someone to hold my hand

I played with Zend for about a week and found it was slow and bloated. I wanted an MVC for my new auction site, but ended up going back to Rasmus’ no-framework MVC as I used on my classified site.

It’s expensive because it is assumed that someone using the multi-vendor environment are really looking at this as an ecommerce platform. I.e. to build other specific applications such as vacation rental site, or other services that are being offered for a price. Hence cs-cart wants a chunk of money to enable you to make money by selling ecommerce services versus products.

My guess…

It always supprises me how uncreative some companies can be (and goverments).

If they want to earn income from venders then the clear path to go was to make the vender version the same price or slightly more then the pro version and then issue sub licences at a sensible level.

These licences could need to be register in the admin end just like the main one now. You can have as many venders as sub licences.

This would give site owners a clear path to gaining venders by offering that service “sell on our site” charging a cost to cover the licence up front and any commision of future sales.

This would mean anyone like me, who is uncertain of if it’s worthwhile could advertise the service and try it out at a small cost. Pretty sure lot of current licence owners would pay around $50-$100 just to try it.

To my mind 1000 venders licences x $50 + 100 site licences at $300 - is better then 50 site licences x $850

I did ask them and I got a “Put it in the ideas area and they will put a consideration on it if it gets enough votes.” How many votes do you think it will take? I see some things on the Professional Ideas list that have over 400+ votes and still haven’t been added. At this rate it will never happen.

When I originally looked at this program I thought it had these features but in the end I found out they are the same as the professional version and vendors can’t offer anything to their customers. Not good for pulling in vendors to sell on your marketplace.
