Promotion based on sub-total FROM category

Is it possible with cscart to have a cart promotion so that the customer gets $x discount for having $x in their cart from a specific catgory/categories, regardless of the presence of items from other categories?

In this case you need to do the following:


  1. Log in to your administration panel, open the “Catalog” tab and click on the “Promotions” link.
  2. Click the “Add cart promotion” button on the right.
  3. Complete the “General” section.
  4. Open the “Conditions” tab and click the “Add condition” button.
  5. Select “Order subtotal” in the opened select box. Then select the “equal or greater” option in the opened select box and enter the necessary subtotal.
  6. Click the “Add condition” button.
  7. Select “Categories” in the opened select box. Then select the “not in” option in the opened select box and add all categories except the necessary one.
  8. Open the “Bonuses” tab and click the “Add bonus” button.
  9. Select the desired bonus.
  10. Click the “Create” button.

Thanks for the description -

I have tried doing this (and several other variations) numerous times… but the cart still applies the discount even if only one of the products is from the promotion category (ie the promotion is set to apply a discount if £100 is spent on products from a particular category, but the discount still happens even if only a part of the £100 is from this category, rather than the required full £100… does that make sense?)
