Can’t you do mostly this with the inventory tracking options? If a product is not sold it still has a quantity of 1 and can be bought by anyone. If it is purchased and has a quantity of 0 you can still have it viewable but not purchasable by others. If that order is canceled then the inventory quantity goes back to 1 automatically when you cancel out the order. You don’t have the status per product exactly, but this is trivial book keeping that you can do outside of the cart I assume?
If you need more functionality than that then you should probably get a custom quote for this from the CS Cart team or an independent developer. I don’t imagine that this would be added to the core product due to the limited demand from users for this functionality.
Reminder to Mr. B that the text of the “out of stock” message can be changed to anything you want via the language variable (go to Content/Languages and search for “stock” without quotes).

Yes, i imagine I will probably have to have a custom mod made for the functionality I need. I appreciate your input though, you’ve given me a simple fix as a stop-gap measure.

Thank you, that’s a handy tip that i will probably use to leave an item visible with a ‘sold’ label

Where do I find “Content/Languages” so I can search for “stock” without the qoutes?
The solution above by tbirnesth does not address my need for a separate item status of Future Release. In my instance I have over 300 new release items from one company alone. I have already added many of them to my items and would like to have customers pre-order these items and if they choose, pay for them now.
