Product Position In Category

If I remember correct earlier cscart versions had a position column in admin categories. I would like to advertise some of the products by putting them on top of other no matter how sorting is set in front end, but only for first pagination site, I do not want to create grids or blocks above main content of category, this takes too much space, also shown for every pagination page... Something similar was in early ebay featured product.

If you use the View products link form the Update category page, you will see the Position field in the product list.

But you should enable new sorting for all categories to use this feature

Oh that is brilliant!

By default each has 0 assigned, what will be on top 1 or 0?

I hope I do not have to assign hundreds of products 1 so 0 would float on top ?

Well if product is set to position 100 and sorting is highest possition, then sure product gets on top of others. Question how are rest sorted if they are 0 ?

How difficult would it be to put positions > 0 products on top of others no matter what sorting is selected.

eComLabs you got addon that puts sold to end of the list. This would be opposite, put product high position products to top of list. I want to promote products so it would not look too much of advertisement like a dedicated block..

No any sorting will be used in this case.

It is not possible without code modifications
