Instead of directly link POS hardware, why not just create CASH, CHEQUE, VISA etc as customers(to track sales), and just use your standard merchant POS machine.
You would then just add a ‘Front Counter’ page, which would ideally be a redesigned admin page, using an account with limited privileges.
Have the ‘front counter’ page on your local intranet, but linking to your normal database.
Or just use Quickbooks(or similar), which I believe already has some form of integration with CS-Cart… remember standalone accounting software are usually much easier to sort out come tax time.
if you have a small outfit it’s best to just keep the webstore orders seperate from the retail sales, however you’ll still need to input the web orders into your retail system, this is something you can do at the end of each week, for example if your using quickbooks for your accounting you can export orders from cs-cart and import them into quickbooks…
I too would love to see a POS system tied to CS-Cart. That way, inventory would be live on both sides, and redundant data entry would be minimized.
I wouldn’t want the POS to be part of CS-Cart, more along the lines of an external program that would sync up with the online side maybe every 15 minutes or so. I wouldn’t want to take the risk of one side or the other taking down the whole thing.
Our host had a problem a few days ago… If my brick and mortar store was tied to it for POS sales, I would have been down for 3+ days.
I would guess that the audience for this is rather small compared to internet only businesses, but I do think it would make a difference to many small businesses that operate both types of businesses.
We also have a brick and mortar store as well as a web store.
Anyone else in this situation? What are you doing to keep track of inventory and track customers?
We use Retail Edge for POS and QuickBooks for accounting.
We had a static web store with links to PayPal. We’ve been manually entering web orders into our POS. Then synching our POS with QuickBooks.
But now we are building a larger web store using cs-cart and will need to synch web orders with our POS and QuickBooks.
I would love to know what other small stores are doing.
Thanks,
Fred
This topic is of interest to me now in order to integrate a POS to a MYOB(accounting system) in the backend.
Has there been any further development on this topic since 2007?
Is there an integrated POS now available to work with CS Cart or are people working with work arounds to re-enter orders into their accounting system.
Interesting, 850+ views but only 6 responses?
No one else is too interested in POS perhaps?
In it’s current form to do it via admin(backend) is very long and time consuming if you are using the system in a physcial shop with the customer waiting in front of you while you go through each screen to process a order.

Hello Sellon,
If you are stuck on using MYOB, unfortunately, your outta the box integration choices will be slim to none. If Quickbooks is an option for you, then these guys offer integration between CS-Cart & Quickbooks POS. I have worked with them off & on over the years and they are good.

they don’t support multi-vendor version.
“Or just use Quickbooks(or similar), which I believe already has some form of integration with CS-Cart… remember standalone accounting software are usually much easier to sort out come tax time.” - That’s right. You can also choose the Point of Sale software from RetailExpress if you want: .
Would be an awesome too, You can’t go through the whole order process when the customer is standing in front of you with a $2 item. It doesn’t make sense. So we do need some sort of POS integration. The problem with quickbooks is that it doesn’t handle inventory back and forth it can’t process whole lists of products.
We use Retailware which has its own Zen cart integration coming out or so I’ve heard. I tried to steer them towards CS Cart but they’d had already made their decision.
A POS add one would allow us to sell products without creating a customer profile, if if we wanted to we could. It would also allow deliveries / PO orders and they should also consider a work order screen for those who do parts / repair / sales possible automotive, consulting whatever customers you could use for billing.
I am looking at the same solution as Scubagoo. My Business genre is SuperMarket / Grocery. I Want to run Web store with a walk-in store having a centralised inventory system. I integrated orderhive solution for Inventory & Doorshopment Management. Unfortunately there is no POS Integrations option available neither in cs-cart nor in orderhive.
As the business is based on Fast Moving Consumer Goods thus transaction speed is very fast i can't ask the customers to hold he line in walkin store and i also have to track inventory and accounts on hourly basis.
If anyone can provide me with a POS addon with barcode scanning. I would be happy to discuss it.
But I wonder why no one has come up with POS Addon yet? this post date backs to 2006 almost 9 years ago.
