Just an idea…
How about adding an ebay style “My Messages” area to the admin.
So, when somebody sends an email via the contact us form it saves it in here as well as sending it. If your email account failed for some reason it can always be checked here.
Perhaps something similar could be setup for the other forms from the form generator too.
As I said, just something that popped into my mind, thought I’d add it here.

yea we hacked up modded something similar for Xcrap called mailbox and we thought about modding it for CS but it would be nice to be a standard built in feature.
