I am in the process of creating a spec. for a mod that improves CS-Cart’s handling of orders that are split between multiple suppliers. Currently, CS-Cart sends out purchase orders to all suppliers in the order when the order is placed. However, we often encounter cases where we need clarification from a customer before placing a purchase order with a supplier.
The mod will…
Create the ability for drop-ship orders to be sent separately to Suppliers …i.e. CSR opens order and clicks to send each Supplier a purchase order.
Add the ability to view/edit a purchase order before it sends to a Supplier.
Create tracking when the Purchase Order is sent to a Supplier; copy Purchase Order details to DB and link the purchase order details under the order record.
The mod will be designed for 2.1.2 Pro.

If you go to admin/orders/orderstatuses, you can uncheck “Notify Suppliers” on any of the statuses you prefer. On my site, I created a new status called “Notify Supplier” which is the only status that triggers the PO email.

I would like the ability to trigger the PO emails independently.
You can edit the order in the admin already. Do you have something additional in mind?
Can you elaborate on what you mean? Shipment tracking fields are already present on the order admin.
re. #1. Exactly…POs will be issued separately so you can hold off on one if you need clarification from a customer.
re. #2. Yes, the new functionality will let you edit a Purchase Order separately from an order, or issue multiple purchase orders for a single line item. So let’s say, for example, the customer has ordered five widgets, but you know the supplier only has four available. I prefer to place a purchase order for 4 units and a separate backorder purchase order for the remaining 1 unit to keep my accounting straight.
re #3. Currently, when the system sends a purchase order to a supplier, there is no record of that purchase order at all. It is impossible to see when/if the email request was sent, and what was in the email (exactly). The mod will create a paper trail so if there are follow-ups with the supplier, we’ll have a record.
Yes, I’m looking for partners to help pay as well as any interest from developers in doing the job. I have an in-house PHP developer that could do this, but I’d prefer to get it done by a CS-Cart specialist.
I should be done with the spec tonight, then I’ll send to CS-Cart custom dev. team for a quote.
