I am looking for a addon to work with all CS-Cart 4.x releases, I have few products weighing 155 or 200 lbs or more, what do I need to do in order to get accurate rates from UPS real time for example if customer add one product weighing 200 lbs or 155 lbs, how I can have it in a way that CS-Cart Split the weight to be requested by UPS any service regardless.
For Example if you have 155 lbs in your shopping cart or 1000 lbs it will split 155 divide into 2 you get 77.5 and you get UPS Hundred Weight so even though you are requesting a total of 155lbs but its actually split among 77.5 lbs boxes to get accurate rate, this will help our customer not get a message from UPS like package too heavy or something or shipping not supported.
Also few items we offer free shipping but those free shipping items are actually free for USA Only not for the rest of the world.
Please PM me your offers. and time limit
I think you're going to find that any real “shipping” module is going to be very carrier dependent. Very hard to to a general one or it would have been done long ago. There are many old posts about this functionality. But the problem is that most carriers base their pricing on a variety of 'shipto' factors that are simply not part of cs-cart or are difficult to verify. Just as an example, most carriers charge more if there's no loading doc at the customer site (or no fork lift, etc.). Hence customers of a freight item have to provide a ton of information that just really doesn't fit into the scheme of things. To do it properly is probably 100 hours of work and very few merchants on this site are willing to invest that kind of $$.
Do a search for 'freight' and you'll find lots of historical info. Jim Clips was going to coordinate development for TNT but I don't know what ever became of the effort.
CS-Cart should at least have working shipping modules for the big 5 (TNT, UPS, DHL, FedEx, USPS)
Currently it simply does not work because CS-Cart does not have dimensional weight, shipping insurance or COD. Once any of these factors come into play CS-Cart is not able to return remotely accurate shipping costs or even process the order at all.
