Okay I am 99% done, ready to release the ‘monster’ upon the Web. Unfortunately it does not look like Live Help in any form will be released soon by the CS-Cart company.
Anyone have good experience integrating any 3rd party vendor products into CS-Cart v2?
There are many of third party chats. I use zaza chat currently on another cart. But, did have it working on a demo cs-cart I had at one time. I plan on using it on 2.0 if cs-cart does not have one integrated. I use the Pro version, but there a free version to try, but without all the features. This is a hosted solution so there is a monthly/Annual charge.
This chat, with help desk, is located here. http://www.zazachat.com/

the best kind of live help is a phone number customers can call, unless you live in the dark ages most businesses now use cell phones, you can stick them in your shirt pocket and run errands, with live chat you have to sit in front of the computer like a monkey waiting for the live help chat box to blink, live chat is a proven time waster as far as getting something done…
Live help is being rewritten, to be faster and more stable. ETA: unknown.

Do you know if it will continue to be Windows only? It would be nice if it was a server-side solution.

I am surprised by the number of customers who use live help on our sites even though our toll-free number is prominently displayed. I personally prefer talking to typing.
Live Help does have the advantage of being able to push a page to your customer which can be mighty useful when they cannot find it regardless of how much assistance you give them.

ROFLOL - sno how did you know we had a monkey sitting in front of the computer?
We actually prefer to offer many ‘avenues of approach’ for customers. We have a toll-free number, a toll number, of course several email addresses, and a postal address - all of which have been used from our previous Web site.
I have used some form of live chat on vendor Web sites when looking for product for personal use and almost always found the feature useful.
So I don’t think we are sending the impression we want visitors to click on a “Live Chat” link instead of using our toll-free number but rather just offering another preference for those folks that do not need or want to talk with someone.
