Is There a Public Roadmap for CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor?

Hi CS-Cart Team,

I’m a champion of CS-Cart and really appreciate the platform’s capabilities. To help with future planning, I was wondering if there’s a public product roadmapavailable for CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor?

A roadmap would be incredibly helpful to:

  • Understand upcoming features and improvements.
  • Align our business strategies with your development plans.
  • Provide feedback on prioritized items.

If one exists, could you share where to access it? If not, is this something the team might consider publishing?

Thanks for your time and keep up the great work!

Valentin

  1. Increase price
  2. Remove features

oftopic but I remember this excitement I found cs-cart (1x by then) from other users from other shopping cart we were abandoning. I was surprised how modern, how many features it had, lively forum was, things actually happening and connection between developers @imac and rest of us members… Now I visit on rare occasions and get sense that nothing actually is happening.

In psychology what keeps two together is pain avoidance that split may cause and expectations to future benefits, meaning if aware that future does not hold any the move out is unavoidable

Hi Valentin, Darius,

For the moment, we don’t maintain a public product roadmap, for a variety of reasons. I won’t go into all of them. But plans can change depending on the circumstances, some functionality may take longer and end up much more complicated than anticipated, etc. Not to mention things that are in too early stages to be revealed.

Personally, I’ve learnt to try and only make promises about a feature once I’m reasonably sure that we’ll deliver it. And back when we did post our roadmap, we explicitly urged our clients not to make any long-term business plans based on it.

With that said, I can share some planned changes:

  • We’ll soon be releasing CS-Cart 4.18.4. It’ll be a patch release with relatively small-scale improvements and bug fixes. The most noteworthy would be support of Apple Pay and Google Pay in our latest PayPal integration (PayPal Complete Payments). We’ll also be moving our Authorize.net integration to their new API, instead of the old AIM.

  • CS-Cart 4.19.1 will feature a new theme, support of YouTube and Vimeo videos among product images out of the box, and a few other things. Since it’s a bigger release, we’ll most likely make it available as a beta, like we usually do. This isn’t a roadmap, but I hope that helps with making plans.

I guess there’s a grain of truth in every joke. I haven’t been with CS-Cart for as long as you were, but I’ve witnessed some price changes (which is probably to be expected in any business). As for removing features, I think it’s a very rare occurrence. In the last decade, I recall only a couple of cases that’d qualify as such (and when no new alternative in the product was offered).

Personally, if I were to argue for removing any feature nowadays, it’d only be after I’d suggest an alternative or revamp of that feature that would do the same thing better. Or when it’s a planned process, like phasing out an old integration in favor of the new one. In that case, we still keep old integrations available for a while, to make upgrade somewhat easier.

4.19.1 what amazing news… I saw the teaser screenshot and CS Cart finally will have a solid default theme because now… it’s a shame in 2025 (sorry, guys)… my new customers will be very happy because when I recommend them CS Cart — usually it is a very delicate situation when they see first result. Thanks a lot. Will recommend CS Cart with proud
