Image Gallery

Ok, maybe I’m over-complicating things here, but I just can’t figure out a decent way to do an image gallery.

I know I could do something with an html block, but I just don’t think that will get me the results I want.

Ideally I’d like to have a real addon that would allow me to select my images and allow me to chose how many columns I want and how big the thumbnails should be. Then when a user clicks on one of the thumbnails, the popup window thing would come up and the user could see a detailed image.

But, what I want and what is available are two totally different things.

I know that Snorocket has had an image gallery addon on his site for a long time, but I don’t know the status of it. Plus, with Sno threatening to leave CS-Cart, it kind of worries me to spend more money that way.

If anyone knows of a good solution to this problem, I’d really love to hear it.

Thanks,

Brandon

Hello, Brandon

I suggest that you should consider our custom development service. Our custom development specialist can explore whether it is possible to change CS-Cart code to meet your requirements and, if possible, can estimate your request.

Thank you.

Yep, I figured I’d have to get something custom developed. I’ve used you guys in the past, but you are way to expensive and take way, way to long to get anything done.

Thanks for the idea though.

Yea and you have to rebuild everything from scratch after each upgrade…

Yep, that too. I almost forgot about the hundreds of dollars I’ve wasted because of that little fact.

Hey Brandon, hope business is good for you. Have you found a way to create an image gallery yet?

We started the development of our Image Gallery Addon, expected release of the 1.0 version is ~2-3 weeks, I'll try to get screen shots up soon but it's going to be a cross between photopost and coppermine except 100% integrated into CS-Cart with the ability to display selected images in blocks throughout your site - Sno

Sno,

That will be a great addon. Just purchased/donated to it.

@Fishtail

Sorry about not responding to you. I got banned for 10 days right about the same time you made your post and so I missed it by the time I came back. Luckily Sno has an addon going on so that will benefit us both.

Thanks,

Brandon

We have some image galleries, banner rotators, take a look here:

This is really high on my want list as well.

I would need a better way of showing images than I have found so far.

Will look into the add-ons suggested here.

I have integrated VisualLightbox with CS-Cart for one of my clients. You must use a free desktop application to create the gallery and then upload a few files but it is very flexible and has support for a dozen skins and effects.

Example: http://dpbracelets.com/tau/press.html

Alt-Team actually built this addon for me. It is actually pretty darn cool. Basically you create a page and then add images like you would normally do.

There are a couple of extra fields though. There is the Alt Tag, which becomes the text under the image. There is a field for the Alt URL. If this is empty, the image opens in the normal image viewer that you use. If it is filled in, the text below the image become a URL.

There is a Caption, which is the text below the image when it is expanded. Then there is a Caption URL, which when filled out makes the caption text become a URL.

The image gallery also has next and previous navigation.

Right now this addon is only available for 2.2.x, but I am going to have it upgraded to 3.x. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

Hello,

I am really interested in such addon. Did you manage to adopt it to v.3? Is it possible to see in action?

Thank you.

Michael

Michael,

This has been updated and works great. Alt-Team has it “for sale” at CS-Cart image gallery

Thanks,

Brandon
