Perhaps an idea for optimizing webcontent.
An addon that allows you as webmaster to add related blog articles and or pages to content pages like “about us” or “product detailpages”
As for adding related blog articles it should quiry either the build in blog or able te select blog articles based on a third party addon.
The idea is to simply add either content pages to a related product or a category of products within in the administrative pages of cs-cart and to add related product to blog and or content pages or add links to other content pages or blog articles.
All should be able to set manually since only the webmaster knows what articles goes with what product or viceversa.
Just a thought and something for our own personal wishlist
We have a wordpress blog and just do manual links from the blog to store. Are you talking about the new blog add-on? We opted for wordpress as it is the gold standard blog with great SEO add-ons, but it would be nice to simplify. Your idea is interesting. Are you talking about internal links or linking to articles on external blogs and web sites? In that regard, an add-on for requesting a link exchange from another site which would, if accepted, automatically add the invited backlink to a links page, would be nice. The links page could have options for every link object which would allow choosing where and how to display elsewhere on site. Is this something like you are envisioning?

I agree with your assesment that WP is still King in many aspects, however since our two stores and the content (products ) in that store are bound by strict regulations by the Food nazi's (EU Food Authority - EFSA) we are well served by the build in functionality.
As for the links I am talking about those relate to both content pages in CS Cart as well into RSS feeds generated by other websites (blogs etc) to have them appear in a block which you can link to an article and or product in your store.
Let's say you sell suits for women, business women and you would of course would like to attract traffic to your store. You may want to have an RSS feed of Vogue (not sure if they offer an free RSS feed) in a tab related to particular suit or outfit.
You may want to have content pages or blog posts with underneath that specific blog post or content page related products shown or related categories of products. Certain shoes or something.
And yes invited backlinks from other sources (websites).
In other words blur the lines between a store and a magazine or somekind of new portal.
