Help With Gift Certificate Validation And My Account

I have several things I am wanting to try, but not sure how to do it.

1) I have found the Gift certificate verification block, which is great, but I want to change the text from "Validate/Redeem Gift Certificate" to something more like "Check Gift Certificate Balance" I haven't figured out where to do that.

2) How do I add a link to the My Account dropdown list? I know there are several template files, but I really don't understand the coding. I am not a coder. IS there an easy fix?

1. Go to Administration -> Languages -> Translations and change value of the certificate_verification language variable
