Green In Stock Wording - changing?

Hi all,

Really simply we have what we call a preorder/presale in which customers can order the products in advance when they are out of stock…

On the product page for example:

You will see the green 'In stock' showing as i still have to have quantity in there to allow customers to order.

What i want to do is change this to 'Available for Preorder' or something like that.

I`ve found the file where this can be edited but it edits EVERY product and not just certain ones…

Can you guys think of any way i can change the wording of the 'In Stock' on individual product pages and still allow customers to place an order for that product?

Many Thanks

Hi Not sure which version you are on, but you can on the product general page under the section Availability set a date in the future and set to Buy in Advance, this will put a message on the product on your shop front. I think the message is “Buy in Advance” and the date you entered. But you can edit this to say what you want.

Thanks- this does add a message

'This product will be available on 03-12-20'

Or whatever date you choose

BUT the green In Stock still stays…

It just confuses customers as i put all the date details into the product description anyway so its just the green In Stock tag im trying to ammend?

Any further ideas guys?

We changed the In Stock to say Available and if we are waiting for stock we use the Buy in advance feature and the words “Earliest dispatch for this product is” followed by the date, we also made the wording in bold so it is obvious.

Sorry I couldn't help further.

Further to above in the settigs>Apperance>Customer Settings you can tick the box “Display In stock as a field” and the wording disappears.

Thanks for your help - I dont actually think there is a way to generically change the 'In stock' by individual product… I think its a global style setting mirrored on each page.
