Google Webmaster Tools

It had been a while since I worked with the Google Webmaster Tools, but I decided to yesterday. I was very discouraged with the results listed below. Are any of you seeing the same thing? All my “keywords” are cart functions !

Hi Dawn,

It sounds as though your website has been down for quite a while then.

I’ll recreate what I think has happened when google crawled last:

Error 404 / Website down or inaccessible.

Could not find cscart_stat_requests from database topper

Backtrace: Smarty error in in /home/affyours/public_html/ at line

Regards,

J.

You are right Jesse…I have literally 100’s of 404’s…some that never existed and countless ones for images and product pages from X-Cart. A great friend gave me the coding for a 301 from the old directory of X-Cart, which was suggested here a couple months ago to delete. I did not know what I was doing last year when I changed over to CS, and made a mess of things for sure…and I have a lot of cleaning up to do. I did get a suggestion here to implement new category page SEO names, and now those are part of the 404 fiasco.

Some things can be fixed, but how in the world do I fix the status of pages that never existed in the first place

Quite simply :

  1. Remove all 301 redirects
  2. fix all broken links
  3. Visit webmaster tools and request a full removal of all links.
  4. Wait

There are better options available but you’ll need to hire a developer to manage it for you.

    J.

How to fix all broken links, is there any way for 404 error ?

you can remove in robots.txt with google webmaster tools in delete link
