Good hosting for downloadable goods?

Hello all,

I am looking at moving my website to a new web host and looking for any suggestions on which one would work the best for me.

First off I sell downloadable goods (3d models, stock photography, video backgrounds, etc.) so I will need quite a bit of space. I think I am currently using about 20gb of space on my current server, but I am planning on adding alot more products so I will be needing more room to expand.

Second I am using Cs-cart version 2.0.8 so I will need a web host that works well with this version.

Lastly, I am looking for something affordable and reliable. Probably a shared hosting plan would work fine as long as I have lots of space.

What web hosting company do you guys recommend I move to?

Thanks,

Beto

RenderMonkey,

I personally have used a few different hosts over the years. I just moved to CS-Cart and CyberLNC for hosting.

They have been great to work with. You would want to talk to them about your storeage needs.

Hope that helps.

Adam

Man they are CyberLNC employees. Hey just kidding

Thanks for the info. I have been reading good things about Cyberlnc on this forum. I will be contacting them to see what kind of options they can give me.

Any other suggestions for web hosting?

-Beto

My personal choice is Rackspace. (www.rackspace.com) Depends on the level of hosting you want, but they are as good as it gets.

Basically you get what you pay for.

Shared hosting can work for CS cart but if you need lots of memory CPU etc you will need a VPS or dedicated server.

I have a VPS server with Wired Tree with an annual prepayment and a coupon it is just over $40 a month.

Rackspace is very good also - maybe slightly better but seems to be less flexible for support in terms of non supported software.

Personally I would not use a host without 24/7/365 telephone support CyberLNC does not see to have it (I could be wrong here) so I would not consider them do a search for problems resulting from no phone support and you will see what I mean…

I agree that a host should have a phone number available…

However CyberLNC encourages its clients to use our support system for general…day to day issues. The 800 number is monitored 24/7/365. If a client has an actual emergency with there site…CyberLNC knows way ahead of the client anyway. We have monitors in place that alert us to various things.

Now if a client accidentally deletes something…dose something to mess up there site, well that’s another issue all together. But CyberLNC is still around to help.

Yes, CyberLNC is small and we plan to stay that way. No reason to become the next Godaddy or any of the other large host out there. We like to stay personal and welcoming. We have had our growing pains, just like all the others out there.

I wish you the best of luck with your business and you seem like a nice person. I assume that you have specialised CS Cart knowledge and that is very helpful for those on this forum.

However, I stand with my statement that a webhost should have 24/7/365 phone support - as in the number posted in their support area so that a customer can call with any question big or small.

Some individuals will no doubt prefer (for example those with English as a second language ?) email, but others such as myself strongly prefer the telephone.

Also very politely I would like to suggest that your prices are high for what you offer in terms of support etc…

Please take this in a constructive way as it is intended. And I am not talking about the Godaddys of the world which have horrible support techs.

I am comparing your hosting accounts to WiredTrees which is also a small company only 3 people a couple of years ago - I am not sure now.

Again I wish you the best - good luck with your business.

Also the phone should be answered within 5 minutes with a trained level 3 tech support helping. 24 hours a day.

Thank you very much for your comments and suggestions…as with any business, feedback is a wonderful thing…whether its constructive or destructive.

Business do not make customers, Customers make a business and without them…well you get the idea.

Again, thank you and I welcome any/all comments, suggestions, complaints from current or future clients.

Have a great day.

Yeah but D-Litz has something better up his sleeve …

A well experienced level 9999 tech with a huge world wide reputation!

Did I actually use the word “tech”? Scary! LOL

I’ve noticed CyberLNC getting a bit of stick on the forums lately, but I really do feel the need to stick up for them.

I’ve been with them for a over a year now and find them very user friendly, and very knowledgeable about CS Cart in particular (helpful for everyone on this forum?!)

I also want to point out that I much prefer having a web host with an emailing system where I know I’ll definitely get an answer, sometimes within minutes.

CyberLNC may be small, but they do the job for me!!

You posted that comment right after my previous post …

If my last post came across as being antagonistically sarcastic against CyberLNC,

then I should clarify by saying that I actually wasn’t joking!

Do not under estimate CyberLNC’s support capabilities! I’m not kidding!

Well everyone seems to be ignoring the real point anyway …

D-Litz already came on and said CyberLNC has email, support ticket, and toll free phone support!

(What exactly is the debate anyway?)

Nothing was aimed at you Spiral, in fact you must have posted your reply as I was writing mine, so I hadn’t even read yours.

I was more astounded at the idea that any company would answer a phone call within 5 minutes… In this day and age, it normally takes at least 5 minutes just to get through the phone menu system before you actually get to speak to a real person?!

Oh don’t you just love those?
