Maybe I’m confused and maybe you can help 
What is the point of a Global Option? Once you apply it to some products it can only be edited at the product level.
I created a global option, applied it to about 50 products. Then I wanted to change the name of the option. I have to go change it on 50 individual products now?!!!
(I tried to change the name and apply it to the same products, now I have 2 options on each product AAAAHHHH!)

You have to check the box “Apply as link” when you apply to products. Then when you change the global option, it changes all linked products.
I think the way you did it just copied the option to the products.
