Free shipping confusion

I have three shipping methods:

  1. Custom Freight - for products greater than 150 pounds
  2. UPS - for products from 1 to 150 pounds
  3. Free Shipping - checked use for free shipping; no weight limits set

If I have a product that weighs 50 pounds the customer sees both the UPS and Free Shipping choices in checkout even though Free Shipping is not checked on the product.

If I have a product that weighs 200 pounds the customer sees both the Custom Freight and Free Shipping choices in checkout even though Free Shipping is not checked on the product.

I thought if I mark a shipping method as ‘Use for Free Shipping’ it should only show up for products that have the Free SHipping box checked? Am I missing something?

It works a little differently. If a shipping method has rates defined, with the provided settings your customers will see free shipping

Thanks. I had to go back through the shipping methods and tweak the weight settings for the various shipping options. It is working.
