Features vs. Options

Hi gang,

Playing around with 2.0.3 is a joy I must say - I have a question as I reconfigure my products…

Features and feature groups can be applied to categories - this is great. What is the difference, precisely, between features in feature groups, global options, and the application of options to a product versus listing features of a product?

Are options the only device that can create a new SKU with a different price?

For example, if I have a product that only has one style I could use the feature ‘color’ as a simple descriptor - it is blue.

If it comes in two style, then perhaps for that I would use an ‘option’ to say that it is blue or green? Would I also indicate in the features area that it is available in blue or green? This seems a little redundant to me but if the features’ sole purpose is to be descriptive as to what a product is (including listing varieties)…

I just don’t want to enter a bunch of things in twice (features and options) without making sure I know which one turns into price modifiers (or variant SKUs) and which one doesn’t… I see variants available in both areas…

I’ll fumble through the KB too - very nice to have!!! - maybe I will come up with the answer in there.
