As most of you will know, the USA has started implementing import duties for almost anything their countries. While 99% of all other countries simply charge the recipient so that a shipper barely has to deal with it, it’s different here: it’s the sender who needs to pay up front!
What’s the easiest way to implement this method? I don’t yet know the actual cost but assume there’s a fixed cost for administration and a % cost depending on the HS code for the actual item. In our case that is the easiest part.
My assumption is that the easiest way to do it, is to deal with Usonian customers as if they are using a different payment method and charge them the appropriate amount.
How would you solve this problem.
BTW, we normally don’t have many customers from the USA, but it just so happens we sell a US brand which has been discontinueing a lot of their products. As a result, new customers , including those from the USA flock to our store to buy the last few items we still have in stock!
