Emails being sent from customer and always coming to my email

Hey guys. It has been a long time since I’ve been on this board.

I have an odd issue that I’m not sure of.

I am using the newest version of CS-Cart and am hosted on Siteground.

I setup SMTP through Amazon SES. Things were working fine, but now they aren’t. First, when I change an order status or do a new order, I get an error saying something like:

Error Message could not be sent.
Mailer Error: SMTP Error: data not accepted.SMTP server error: DATA END command failed Detail: Message rejected: Email address is not verified. The following identities failed the check in region US-WEST-1: saltwatertgo@gmail.com SMTP code: 554

saltwatertogo@gmail.com is the customer email, not the store email. Why is it even on this error? I’ve checked all of the settings and the emails are all set to the correct email addresses. It is like the cart is trying to use the customer email instead of the store email.

The next issue I have is that I receive all of the customer emails to my personal email address and they ARE being sent from the store email. My personal email address isn’t anywhere in the settings, so I can’t figure out why this is happening.

If I change this to PHPMail, I don’t get the first error, but the customer doesn’t get their email and I still get an order email to my personal email.

Any ideas? I’m kind of pulling my hair out and there really isn’t that much up there to begin with.

Wow! It’s been a while. Good to see you again.

The first error is a AWS SES issue.

Is your install fresh or did you update from way back when?

Thanks,

Kind of nice to be on here. Cool to see you are still here too.

It is an upgrade. I forget what version this client was on, but it was an old one.

I did more testing on this. It is only the order emails that are the issue. They are being sent from the customer email, not the store email.

The user emails are fine. When I modify a profile and save it, it notifies the user and uses the correct from address.

There were issues in updates is the reason I asked. Especially when they went from the old to new email templates.

Hi!

Please contact us via Help Desk, so that we may try to help you with this issue.

Just wanted to put an update on here. I worked with the CS-Cart team to try and resolve this, but no matter what we did, I wasn’t able to get the emails to work with Amazon. I don’t know if it is a setting in Amazon that I’m overlooking or what, but I finally gave up on Amazon SES.

I ended up setting up and using SMTP2Go. It is super easy to setup and use and is free for up to 200 emails per day. The setup is similar to Amazon, but the emails are domain based and not on a per-email basis. Setting things up on CS-Cart was also very easy and so far, it is working perfectly and we aren’t having any bounced emails.

From what I understand, the account in Amazon is in sandbox mode and you have to make a request to have it taken out of sandbox mode.

It already is in production. I use Amazon SES all of the time for Wordpress sites, but just couldn’t get it to work with CS-Cart. It likely is just a setting I overlooked, but I just couldn’t figure it out. The important thing is that the emails are all working now, so that is good.

I really appreciate your input into this though, @thetool
