drop down menu

I feel that the free templates are outdated as I am seeing more websites that have had update in the UK are now using a drop down menu such as play.com ebuyer.com etc and a banner rotator.

I am using the electro skin at the moment. I have not been able to find a add-on or easy way to code this. Can anyone recommend how I obtain such features easily. I have limited knowledge of coding.

Thanks.

This is too complex for me. I recently looked at Opencart. This type of menu is built in. I think CS cart really need to do something quick.

Go to admin: design: top menu, and hit +add item,

-in “link text” type in the parent category name.

-in “generate submenu” select that parent category, so it generates the dropdown.

-(yes) on “Link text” and “URL” values from the selected item.

Do the same for all your parent categories and you'll have a horizontal dropdown category menu.

They know how to do that, it's the look of the top menu the OP was looking for. The hover over to get to sub categories is old and tired. It's a much better user experience if you display them the way the do on the sites given for reference.

Thanks. Didn't know how easy it was. Took me 10 minutes to setup. I wonder why some companies are charging over £50 for a similar drop down menu.

Do you know how I can edit the colours of the text ? which css file is it?

Thanks.

just found out the drop down menu style is in the new skin i purchased from Caxid Templates. It doesn't look good on thre default cs cart skins.

I agree, i think cs cart needs to do some upgrading, better features and more advanced functions for better look and use.

Some of these websites are amazing, like the ones above with the drop down of all categories, pretty nice, what i wish to see from cs cart is like a parts fiche for auto-mobiles or motorcycles.

But you can also use this for multiple things!

Maybe those add-ons were made for older versions of cs-cart that didn't have the drop down feature?

Glad you found out how to do it.

where can i locate the font size for left the catergoy menu. I would like to increase the size and colour as it seems a bit small for this template.

Also when you are on the home page the drop down menu looks fine (left image) until I click on a product it looses it style (right image). why does this happen?

Thanks.[attachment=4570:menu.jpg]

When I add a new category (MAIN/SUB) I see a different view now on the “location” section whereas I used to see a drop down menu 1 hour ago. How do I change the view back the way I want? Refer attachment.
