CSCart (v2.09) Installation Problem

Hi Everyone… I’m new to cscart and this forum, so firstly - hello from Sydney, AU.

I was cruising, had the demo version of cscart (v2.09) set up on my hosting server & a weeks worth of changes made (that had to be too good to be true) then decided, I’ll change the DB’s name from cscart to store… BIG MISTAKE!! In trying to fix it… being the non genius I am… messed it up. While I can understand how the cPanel the hosting company has… mySQLAdmin and I aren’t friends at the moment, we just don’t understand each other… Hopefully those nice people at my hosting company can let me know where I’m going wrong! Well, that was a waste of time… not one to ever give up because I have to know how things work…

Instead of messing with the coding, I deleted all the cscart files from the (public_html) and decided to see if a fresh install would work. HOORAY! the install went fine… the new database was created…

however… when I log in with the links provided at successful install I’m getting this message:

I think it’s got to do with the skin/template but how to fix, I have now idea. If anyone can provide some nice, clear instructions on how to fix up my techno mess… it would be appreciated!!

ps: if you need more info than what’s above… LMK

take care…

Try to drop the database and reinstall with the basic skin. Before installing make all necesarry file permisions.

Welcome Darlene!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news…BUT

Unless you have a backup of your database (where a majority of your 1 weeks worth of changes would have been saved in), then it sounds as if you would be best of starting from scratch with a fresh install of Version 2.0.10

Remember this, when it comes to making any changes regarding your stores database, or even fiddling around for that matter, make certain that you backup the DB before doing so. If you are not experienced with working with databases, you can quickly cause so much damage or loose enough critical store data that it can be beyond repair!

Yes, the Struck is right, you should to install the 2.0.10 because of many bugs in 2.0.9.
Yes, the Struck is right
Indy, you can simply call me Struck! LOL

I can only be partially right on this one at best as there may be other options, point I am trying to make is depending upon just how much damage was done, quite often it is best to just learn from your mistake, suck it up, and re-start with a fresh install.

LOL!! I think I was the bearer of bad news!! Aww well… live and learn. I actually did do a backup… but probably lost that as well…

ps: Not sure about this - as this was a trial version of the cart… am I able to d/load a new trial copy and start again?

take care…

Thank you all for replying…

I love learning new things… I already have a website (which is DIY, etc…) but with this new site… I wanted to extend myself and build it myself. Definitely a learning curve in some areas but that’s the challenge!

Thanks again!

Hi Darlene,

Should not be a problem, just make sure you download Version 2.0.10 which is the latest version, absolutely no need to put yourself through the grief of updating considering you are coming straight outta the gate!

The nice thing about this is you can start building (… uhm, or in your case RE-BUILDING) your site with the demo & when you are ready to purchase, they will just provide you with a license key, enter it within your admin panel, and continue on to opening up your store. Good Luck!

Oh yeah, just wanted to mention to you…

DO NOT DELETE YOUR BACKUPS… It just isn’t right !
