Cs-Cart Free Is Out Now

Does this mean the people can now start a CS-Cart store for free ??

I must be missing something because on the surface it looks people who have paid big money

for a single license are going to be more than a little upset.

I don't think that a free store has any rights - so they could at any time lose their store etc..

Lets see what CS cart has to say...

The CS-Cart Free is absolutely free, but some features that are available by default in other CS-Cart versions, are not available in the free version. You can check the feature comparison at the following page:

Do you have similar comparison page in Russian?

You are welcome!

I already have cs-cart, but the upgrades keep failing. I wanted to install a fresh copy instead of upgrading, can I use the free version for that?

Could you tell me what version you are using and what you mean by "upgrades keep failing"? Perhaps we'll be able to help here or through Help Desk.

As for a fresh copy with CS-Cart Free - sure, you could do that. But you needn't do that ;-)

If you have a CS-Cart license, and your upgrade subscription covers the date when a new version was released, you could also request that version through Help Desk any time (even after we have released a newer version). As long as you treat it as a development copy (keep the storefront of the development copy closed), you should be fine.

I have my main paid for license.

Can I install the free version for a second smaller site ?
It only sells 2 products ( not many sales at all ) and I really don't want to pay over $1000.00 for it.

Sure, you can download CS-Cart Free and use it as as you wish. Please follow this link to download the free version, if you have troubles to find it at our site :)

Having trouble with PayPal on my paid for store 4.17.1
I noticed on my separate very small ( 4 products ) CS-Cart free version that PayPal Complete Payments seems to be the bee’s knees but it isn’t available in 4.17.1
I am not prepared to pay for a 12 month upgrade subscription on my main 4.17.1 store because it is quite dead.
It ‘appears’ that the free version is no longer available.
Is this correct?

Yes, unfortunately the free version is no longer available for download and installation. However, all existing installations will continue to work and can be updated to the latest versions available.

I might move all the products from our main ( rather dead ) store into the free version I have installed. If our main store starts earning again I will do the right thing and pay the upgrade subscription for my ‘paid for license’ store and move back.

The available features for Free version are missing or I am missing it  ?

Since the Free version is no longer available, all information about it has been removed from the site. What would you like to know? I might still remember some of the differences.

Users groups are not available.
Only Administrators or Customers.
I have 2 carts running one paid and one free so if you want me to check
for other missing features or add-ons just yell out.

Free version is already killed within 2 years? There is no consistency with Cs-cart and it’s difficult to see their goal and customer target.
Is it enterprise or small businesses or both? If it’s both, the subscription billed annually just doesn’t make sense. There is a reason why others like Shopify don’t force people to pay yearly even though they have the most innovative stuff out there.
Cs-cart already has an expensive one-time price option. Why should you then make another expensive option for annual subscription? We get you want stable quick cash flow, but this is not sustainable.

Quick fix
• Make it monthly and cheaper so you have more subs and become popular
• Get rid of the standard plan, and keep the plus.
• Either acquire the rights to premium themes like Unitheme and make it a default Cs-cart theme, or build a new modern premium theme
• Release upgrades frequently and make them cheaper for one-time licence owners - it’s not like the upgrades are frequent and full of innovative features anyway.

We are aware that Cs-cart is working on a new marketplace with modern tech which will be tailored to enterprise. Why make the legacy version expensive when you could make it very accessible as a tool to market the brand name as the default most popular marketplace software for any business size. This ensures that future Cs-cart versions or projects will already have the customer base thanks to old projects.

Thanks for the feedback!

There are changes coming to the product line and the removal of the free version is part of those changes. I’m afraid I can’t tell you more at this time, as this work is not yet finished. As soon as it is finished, I think there will be an announcement.
