I would like to change the “Add to Cart” button on category pages to “View Details” and go to the product details page. I am using 2.1.3. Is there a setting for this or does it require a modification? Anybody got any ideas?

Why not just disable the button on your category pages and let them use the link that is the title for going to the detail page? You would disable the button in the list view you are using.
