Great to see this back in CS-Cart. My question is, do you know any payment providers this will work with?
If the addon works the same way as it did back in the days, when it was included in the cart you had to bill the customer manually every month, and that isn't really what you want in a recurring billing plan, it should run automatically until the customer stops the subscription.
The only payment provider i have seen with a good subsrciption plan is PayPal, and that only works with the use of a payment button. You can't check out the normal way in CS-Cart with PayPal and have a customer signed up to a subscription plan. And it looks like none of the Stripe addons for CS-Cart has support for subscriptions.
It would be great if this addon could work with some kind of payment provider like Chargify or something so that the subscription was running automatically.
We are glad to inform you that you can try the Recurring Billing add-on functionality in our new demo (Storefront, Administration panel) based on CS-Cart 4.3.5.
So does this initiate a PayPal "Recurring payment" in the customers PayPal account?
Ive purchased subscriptions online with sites like TimeDoctor, so its obviously possible to do.
Or does the recurring payment need to b done maually by admin?
The add-on does not actually take money from the client account. It offers the postponed partial payment for the product and sends the notifications to the customer when the time of new payment is coming.
We would use recurring payments for lay-by of items, but without it creating a PayPal "Recurring payment" this isnt much use to us.
Sure, the customer can cancel the payments, but automatic payments will help forgetful customers.
Creating the recurring payment is the problem, of course it can be cancelled, but taking the payment automatically saves such amount of work. If you sign up to a mobile phone provider at €30 a month, and money is taken automatically every month, is much more sensible than every month having to ring and chase payment for it.
We're looking to try use this addon for rentals, and if the item isn't returned on time, then an automatic invoice for the next billing period is sent and paid for. Trying to get late fees or people to pay a 2nd week on rental if they think they don't have to is so time consuming to chase.
Has anyone any addons / recommendations for trying to rent CS-CART store products to people? We also sell the items, but want to try rent them on a day / week basis.
