We have a customer with a large order that can’t checkout due to what appears to be a shipping weight restriction (from the logs). Is there a workaround to allow the transaction without shipping options?

If you do not want to use the shipping functionality in your store, you can disable it by activating the "Disable shipping " check box on the “Settings: Shipping settings” page in the administration panel of your store. If you disable it, but it does not help you, it seems that the problem occurred because of incorrect templates cache storage. Please try to clear it. In order to do it, please open this link in your browser: http://www.your_domain.com/admin.php?cc where “www.your_domain.com” is the address of your store and where admin.php is a script file for the administration panel of your store that was renamed for security reasons.



Please note that before cleaning the templates cache you should be logged in to the administration panel of your store.

The way we worked around the limitation of heavy shipments was we created 3 different “manual” shipping methods and called them “Flat Weight - Heavy”. Then you can put various states in (if US) in the “Show rates for destination:” and show different pricing according to an average for that state. This allows the customer to choose one of these heavy weight methods and still be able to check out. You may want to put a note that you would contact them should shipping amount change.



Since we have free shipping right now on orders over $99 we have set the “Flat Weight - Heavy” shipments to charge no price but still allow folks to be able to check out. This way you can still use the other shipping settings for other orders.
