Can't Get Install To Run.

Trying to get Version 4.1.4 running.

Kept getting 'page not found' when trying to run the Install routine.

Looked in cpanel error log and saw…

…install" is writeable by group

Are special permissions to be set for the Install folder ???

Hello,

The install directory should have 755 permissions.

You must be f…g joking !!

Not you Simtech but the geese who constructed the installation manual.

They make absolutely no mention of 755

Most of the CS-Cart files should have 644 permissions and all directories must be set to 755. It's mentioned here:

CS-Cart Documentation — CS-Cart 4.15.x documentation

It wouldn't hurt to add this information in the Installation instructions though.

Well I managed to get to admin.

I have 4.1.4 set up ( now ) in a subfolder. Copied the image folder

from my live site and pointed config.local at the live site db

Now all I get when going to the 4.1.4 admin is 'Store Closed'…lol

At least my live store 3.0.6 has remained unharmed. Whew !!

You have your dev site 4.1.4 pointing to your live site database running 3.06 ? you need a new database for the 4.1.4 site

OK looks like it's almost full steam ahead 'after' store import.

Seemed to 'hang' at Converting orders but assured by Live Help

that the process can take several hours so I won't give up next time.

Now…

How do I take the new store from it's folder to the root.

Do I

pack the existing sore into a folder

then move all contents of the new store folder

to where the old store was ?

Maybe this will help

Hi Zeero6.

I had read those instructions but I am not clear about what to do in my case.

My new store is in a folder at root, sitting among my existing site's folders etc.

I think I can simply pack up all my existing site's folders etc into a new folder

then populate the root with the contents of the new store's folder.

This way I think all I have to do edit the config.local.php and specify the new

address in the new store's admin.

Correct and alter the .htaccess rewritebase / if needed.

John

Thanks heaps johnbol1.

I will have to attempt this myself on principle.

CS-Cart support don't seem to want to rectify deficiencies in their own software

unless they are paid to do so.

Hello and good morning. I am a first time user of this cart and I also cannot get it to install.

Version 4.2.3 is what I am trying to setup. I created on one of our hosting accounts a folder called store and copied all the files in there.

Is this Ok to do instead of using Root?

Once I had everything done I run the install file and get the page where I click the license agreement. I click next step and all I ever get is a blank index.php page.

I have followed the steps for permissions. We are on a Godaddy Linux Host Account.

The instructions though are not clear as what it says regarding permissions and what is said here is different.

Can anyone tell me what to do so I can try and resolve it?

Thank You
