Blacklisting customers based on phone number or email

Dear CS-Cart developers, add-on developers,

We have been having some problems with some customers placing orders and rejecting Cash On Delivery payments cancelling orders. It is kind of difficult to track and determine these fake orders. And having these regularly it’s quite a loss for the companies paying shipping 2 times with no profit.

If the CS-Cart had a blacklist table which keeps the track of emails or phone numbers to warn the managers about the blacklisted customers on the orders page with an exclamation mark it would have been perfect.

Or checking a condition of the phone number on previously cancelled or rejected orders would also work but this seems like a more complicated development.

Does anyone know about an add-on or plan to integrate this feature in the core? If yes, I would really be interested in an add-on purchase, if not, please take this an improvement proposal.

I have the same exact concern unfortunately there is no native/built in solution however you can use an add-on to restrict these customers. See the other thread here

Your problem is common with Cash on delivery, and the solution you are asking for would need a serious custom addon.

I’d suggest a workaround like this.

Introduce a really small commitment fee which is refundable if the customer completes purchase in person, and non refundable if they don’t. This fee could basically be in the range of delivery fee.

To achieve this, create a discount code that enables a customer to buy a product at that commitment fee (say $5). Set the condition to only works if Cash on delivery is used.

This will deter non serious buyers from abusing Cash on delivery. Also this will signal serious efforts from your end, and the same is expected from them.

There is no need for any complex addon here, ours already has protection against such customers. It was made specifically to improve work with Cash on delivery orders.

Your addon records refund rates, but what actions does it have after that? Can you manually or automatically hide/restrict Cash on delivery payment method to that customer?

One question. It says refunds, what about order cancellations? Or is refund just a different word choice for the same function?

Can it be extended so there is an option to enable blockage notifications. So the customer gets an email or SMS notification saying Cash on delivery is temporarily unavailable due to policy abuse? :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, you can configure such statuses.

You can send to customer SMS message when order changes status to Cancelled by using our addon

Then this is the best solution to address problems with fake orders using Cash on delivery.
