Australia Post Calculation is driving me nuts

Hi all

If there is one thing I hate is when I get frustrated and nothing works.

I have been reading post about Australia post calculation and some of you have got it working properly and others not.

Well in my case I am just about to give up and call it a failure not only that but I am considering very much the idea of offering free shipping (cos this doesn’t work).

I have tried all the suggestion you guys have post but none have worked properly for me, I am sorry but the is the truth.

i am using cs V2.12 pro and to tell you the truth, Australia post calc does not work.

If someone is capable of telling all of us how to set it properly it will be great, If I can come up with a solution I will definitely post it here for all to see, cos I have gone through hell and back and I would not like it to happen to anyone else. I am tired hungry and the back of my eyes are sore, so sore that i think I am going to put cucumber slices on them, i don’t know why but i am willing to try.

I will give you an example here: I have set the shipping the way others have mention or recommended, all I get is $4.95 shipping to all the corners of Australia, no matter where you live and how heavy the product is, if you buy something from me that is all is showing in the shipping, that is “NO DEAL”

I need help!!! Please

Sorry to hear what you’ve been through, but for sure there is a way out.

Provide a demo store with your settings and admin info will help a lot. Many settings can affect the final shipping cost.

I’m hoping the shipping settings are the same for your version as they are for the older version 2 carts and that you want Australia Post realtime rates.

Go to Shipping Settings - Shipping and Taxes. Create a new shipping method “Australia Post Regular Post” or whatever you want to call it. Make the weights from 1 gram to 20000 grams. Make sure “Realtime” is ticked and choose Australia Post Regular Parcels as the shipping service. Check GST, All User Groups and make sure the active button is ticked.

If you want to add any charges, for example a receipted delivery fee for each delivery or maybe a packaging charge, you can add this under the Shipping Charges tab.

You also must make sure you have a package measurement under Shipping Settings - Shipping and Taxes - Shipping Settings (in the version I am looking at, which is an older version 2, the Shipping Settings is in red text underneath the Shipping Methods heading). In here you must have a measurement for the length, height and width of your package.

I’m not sure where your cart is pulling the $4.95 from but it is possible you have put this in under the shipping charges.

If you want to PM your details, I would be happy to log in and have a look for you.

Don’t give up. it’s probably something quite easy you are missing but it is possible to get it working.

It’s also possible to include the regular post satchels and express post satchels if you want to use these but, if you do, you have to make sure the physical size of your parcel will fit in the satchel.

Even though I haven’t upgraded to version 2 for my own cart, I have set up a version 2 site for someone and have various postage methods working for that site.

Thank goodness we in the USA don’t have to calculate shipping costs based upon satchel dimensions!

Add to that the fact that Australia Post will charge you according to the cubic weight of your parcel (i.e. it might physically weigh 1.5kg but, because of the size, you may have to pay postage on 15kg) and it’s difficult to get the cart to calculate the postage accurately. But I think this is probably the case with most of the shopping carts around, not just CS-Cart.

If you have time, you should install the beta and check it out!

Another couple of things to check - have you added the States, etc., under Locations? See the knowledgebase here - [url]CS-Cart Documentation — CS-Cart 4.15.x documentation

Have you read the instructions in the knowledgebase on setting up Australia Post? The link is here - [url]CS-Cart Documentation — CS-Cart 4.15.x documentation

If you have followed all the steps outlined above and it still doesn’t work, I’d be happy to have a look for you to see if I can find where the problem is.

Good luck.

Yes Lyn I have revise everything one point to note is that i don’t want to sell internationally and therefore i have created a default Australia only in Localization and then I have in location: Just Australia in Country and in the States i have all Australian states on my left box, please note fail to insert states the products will not show anywhere on the site, so I have been extra careful about that.

But I will keep on trying until I get it.

Thanks Lyn for you helt and quick response

Michael

I wouldn’t have thought the fact that you are using localizations would stop Australia Post from working and there must be a reason you are getting the $4.95 for all sales.

Have you disabled all other countries in the countries list? Have you selected the localization in all of your products, categories, etc?

Good luck.

I’ve also had problems getting the AP calculator to work when using localisations.

Steve.
