App Password Not Working for Emails

For a while now I have been using an app password for SMTP server in my General>E-Mails settings and it’s worked fine. However, I recently had to change the Gmail password (actually Google Workspace) and it stopped working. So today I created a new app password for this and CS-Cart doesn’t accept it. I get this error message:
SMTP Error Password command failed: 535 Incorrect authentication data
Anyone know what’s going on here?
Currently I don’t get an email when a customer places an order which is a bit unhandy.
I also had to create a new app password for the Mail app on my Mac, and it is working just fine.

UPDATE: Turns out my hosting account was hacked and the person who did it changed my mail zone records and pointed them away from Google to his own. Once we got that figured out and corrected, everything is now working fine again.
PLEASE make sure your domain, hosting, CS-Cart admin, etc. accounts all have secure passwords and, where possible, two-factor authentication turned on. You do not want to spend your day like I did yesterday. I will say no more. I’m very fortunate it wasn’t worse than it was.
