2.0.x has dropped this feature from 1.x
I’d like to see it back.

Yes it is a pain now when acting on behalf of if you are doing for a different price/discount!
I agree. Their response in the bug tracker thread is not very encouraging:
You can use promotions to add discount to a definite product(s).
Create promotion, add condition “Products”, select product(s) and save condition. After this select “Bonuses” tab, select type of discount and it’s amount. That’s it.
We just want a way to edit the discount directly, not some convoluted process.

That reported bug makes me think they mis-understood the problem. And now it’s closed.
We dont want to add edit discounts. We just need a way to apply them to an existing order, or remove them

Right, with any active business, making adjustments such as this to order details is a regular part of the daily routine! We need as much flexibility to make order tweaks as reasonably possible.
REMOVED: Link was totally unrelated

I was looking exactly for this, i just upgraded from 1.3.5 sp4 to 2.0.14, a big jump, and I have to edit manually a customer’s order, I need to make a discount. I was so used to making this in the old cart that I was very puzzled when I went to the discount box and it was missing!!!
Maybe I misunderstood this post but…are you saying that option is gone???
It is sooooo necessary for me, I use it often. How can this simple and useful function be removed? Please, can anyone tell me a way to do this now?
Unfortunately, this feature is not available in version 2. You can vote to have it added in the Ideas forum:

Bob
hyteckit, thanks a lot for posting this here,I have not seen the other thread, I’ll try your solution, thanks
hyteckit, I made the modification and it is useful but it is not exactly what started this post.
What we want is something we had in the old version 1.3.5 at step 1 when you edited the order and could simply make a direct discount right next to the price, no coupons, no promotion, just a discount right there, fast and simple.
For example, sometimes I run out of one product and then find a new provider for the same product which now has a different code and price (higher) yetnif a good customer I do not want to lose bought the product with the old price when i still had not turned it to out of stock ,I simply add the new product code to his order and as it has a high price, right there I make a discount for the difference and that’s it, order saved, client happy, seller not exhausted making coupons and stuff.
It’s a bit different from your proposal, the fact is I do not use coupon codes, but I do have situation sometinmes where I need to act fast.
What was the need for removing that useful option after all?
Hi Bob, I have been ranting about this for some time but it looks like this is a new thread in User Voice, I thought it was an issue that had some votes already … maybe I missed it. I can’t imagine something so important and frustrating has not been raised before. Every time I edit an order that has discounts or promotions it can not be done.
It would be great if they just gave us a line item that we could use to adjust the order +/- and enter the description of what the adjustment was for; that would help tremendously.
I just want to be sure before I vote for it, that it’s not somewhere else.
Yvonne-
I think it was mentioned in another idea that this should be included. Since I could not find that idea by searching for either "discount’, “edit” or “order”, I decided that it should be added as a separate idea.
It’s frustrating to me that this even needs to be in the Ideas forum - I can’t see any reason why they needed to remove this from 2.0.

Exactly!!! I just can not think of a reason, it is just a tiny little box next to the price and it has helped me a lot in the past.God, now it is so complicated to make a discount. Like the French ironically say : Pourquoi faire simple quand on peut faire compliqué ?

Step 1 of the ‘edit order’.
Where you can:
- Add products
- Delete products
- Change the price of the product for the order
We all know we can edit the order and change the price, but you miss the point here: we want the customer to see is a DISCOUNT.
My clients must know I am making a discount in order to keep my promise of shipping the items even if the price changed because provider also changed. They must know it is a small sacrifice I am making, actually I made a recent “small sacrifice” of 52 euros discount from current item price.
So tell me, if you make a 52 euros discount in a GPS for a customer, losing money just to keep his trust, wouldn’t you want him to know it is a discount?
It was just a tiny little function in step 1, why did it have to be removed? I just don’t understand, it bothered no one.
has this been solved?
I am not sure, I kind of fell off the radar with the release of 2.1 as I have not installed it. It broke my test site so I knew I did not have 2 or 3 months to mess around with it for my live site.
It probably has not been addressed and although strange for any shopping cart that this standard feature is missing I am not sure it is even considered to important.
Why did this get removed ??
anyone want to chip into the cost of having this “MOD” function re added ??
I cant believe this was taken out like others have said this was so simply but yet provided such a huge help, and to add insult to injury the price box has the tick box
I cant believe an upgrade actually takes away simply functions that serve to deliver so much.
Submitted ticket and will see what price I am given to re add a function that been taken away.
:x
Is there a solution for this now? It's very frustrating we can't add a discount code in edit order. We get quite some people who had problems with codes, and then mail after ordering to get their discount.
Update: i see this has become available again in 3.x. Nice.
