It is my understanding that your CS-CART license is for one domain only. If all of your edits are to the skin files then you can back those up and then replace them when you have installed the licensed version.
The license agreement is valid only for one domain, I’m sure you can use the domain that you wish to use providing that CS-CART has been notified.
Having said that unforuntatly I’ve never used the demo to upgrade from so I can’t be much help in that area
