#302676 Recurring Url Code From One Ip-What Could It Mean?

Thanks for all your input.

Not knowing if there was a hack, I restored a full back-up from a couple of days before I saw the attempted hack.

#195452 One Step Checkout - Simple Layout

Posted by pbannette on 28 October 2014 - 09:43 AM

I agree with tbirnseth, if this addon prevents a few customers from bailing out due to a complicated check out, then you got your money back. Hard to tell how many lost sales due to checkout process, but I have many elderly customers that I help now and they maybe able to use the addon layout themselves.
I just have a couple of questions:
For those using Amazon Checkout and PayPal Express are these methods still in the cart or can go on the one page checkout? I also offer credit cards.
How would someone edit the option for the products. I saw that a product could be deleted, but not sure if I saw if that any options could be changed on the form.
Thanks,
Bob

#186600 2.2.4 Pro - Error Message Appearing On Every Page Top

Posted by pbannette on 29 June 2014 - 12:42 PM

Hello,
I got the same error when my php version went to 5.4 from 5.2. I had to roll back to 5.3. CS-Cart 2.2.4 pro is not compatible with php 5.4.
What php version are you using? Here is my original thread on this error:

#185676 Cart-Power Add-On: Mobile Skin

Posted by pbannette on 13 June 2014 - 09:49 AM

Hi,
What happens if there is a responsive theme installed and then you install a Mobile skin. Can you set which takes precedent and then have a link for a customer to click to get the other skin? I read in an internet retailing magazine that a poll was taken regarding Mobile Skin vs standard skin and it showed about a 50/50 split as to what customers preferred. May have been related to the type of products sold and features available on standard skin vs a mobile skin, in which some features were removed.. One retailer changed the default skin to always be the standard skin, even if a mobile device was detected, and mobile users would have to click to see the mobile skin. Their sales actually went up when they did this.
Thanks for you input and the new mods you are creating for CS-Cart.

#181979 Can't Upload/attach Images To Product And See New Categories After Upgrad...

Posted by pbannette on 20 April 2014 - 06:44 PM

Cart: Version 2.2.5 Professional
PHP version: 5.3.6

Since upgrading PHP from 5.2 to 5.3, I have been seeing some problems.
1. None of the new categories I created sine 5.2 shows up in the category dropdown. One was a new root category and the other is a subcategory of an existing root category. All existing ones are fine. EDIT: I cleared the cache three more times and the Categories are OK now.
2. I have been not been able to add any product images to a product or to a category. Nothing happens. I do get a link to the image where the image would show up on the Product Details Page, but the file itself was never uploaded to the images/detailed/1/ folder.

I have been able to ftp an image to the upload folder and apply this image to a category description field, but not to a product.

My file folder permissions are 755 and files 644.
I did notice that the VAR/Compiled folder/Admin, Customer and Mail folders are 777. If I change these to 755, then I just get a blank white page(admin and customer side) that says "error detected".

Any ideas? Probably a setting or permissions somewhere.
Thanks,
Bob

#168707 Which is best

Posted by pbannette on 25 September 2013 - 09:46 AM

You have to have user requirements first and then compare. For me, it appears that options can not be edited in the cart. I have products with several text items. For many carts, if there was a mistake, the item would have to be deleted and done over. I looked at Lemonstand a while ago and at least at that time, it did not have this functionality. Therefore, CS-Cart meets my requirements and Lemonstand does not and was ruled out.

#164651 CS-Cart 4 Final Released

Posted by pbannette on 30 June 2013 - 07:11 PM

I am waiting for a 2.2.4 import tool, however, I am in no rush. From previous experience, I find its better to wait a little longer until any initial bugs are found and corrected.
By delaying the upgrade tool, its probably a way to do a controlled release of the new version.

#150254 Why am I getting this message?

Posted by pbannette on 02 December 2012 - 02:15 PM

Follow-up, in case someone else has a similar problem
.
CS-Cart Support Fixed the problem.

The Admin Logs (when cs-cart Support started working on the problem, before the problem was fixed), had:
Response: HTTPS: libcurl error(6): Couldn't resolve host 'updates.cs-cart.com'
CS-Cart stated that the problem occurred because an extra space was at the end of the host name
After the fix the logs indicate: Response: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Response><License>ACTIVE</License>

What is strange is that I have been getting the upgrade notices, which also rely on updates.cs-cart.com

I also would like to complement CS-Cart Support on this issue. I notified them on November 29th, in the afternoon, (EDT US), received a response by Nov. 30th, Sent CS-Cart Support log-in information on Dec. 1st PM and they had it fixed on December 2nd (Sunday) at 1:00 AM, Eastern US Time.

I don't have many support issues, but when I do, they get back to me within 24 hours.

#142735 Many abandoned carts created daily with minimum dollar value gift certificates

Posted by pbannette on 12 August 2012 - 12:16 PM

Yes, I saw a variation of this. Here is my post: http://forum.cs-cart...__fromsearch__1

I kept exporting the logs into excel, sorting and looking for patterns. It seems like who/what ever is doing it was fixated on one particular product. After a while I was able to see a series of IP address causing it and first I blocked them in .htaccess file and then asked my host to block at server level ( I have shared hosting).
This seemed to stop for a while, except for 3 or 4 abandon carts about a week ago, then stopped again.
It seemed from the logs they would use "send to a friend" first and then I would see them going to the product and I would end up with sometimes 40 of the exact same carts with two of the same product, same price. Interesting that they would be individual carts. Months ago, the carts were composed of hundreds of the same item, but in one cart. Then two of the same item, but in 20-40 carts a day.
What was also interesting was that the product several required text fields to be completed in order to add the product to the cart. Not sure how this was done. And, because I had Captcha for "Send to a Friend", the Captcha had to be bypassed. I tuned of "send to a Friend" completely and this worked.

Also, I could not pinpoint the same IP addresses the cs-cart statistics that I could in the logs. It was like they were invisible. I looked at the robots and visitors at the time the carts were created and unless I missed something, the IP address of the ones creating the carts were not listed in the robots and visitor logs, but were in the server logs.

I am still using 2.2.4. I had it for years (since 1.3.5) before having the problem this year.
Hope you find who/what is doing this at your site, but then they have to be blocked.

#140162 Page not found Help!

Posted by pbannette on 08 July 2012 - 06:58 PM

Hi,
Did you check with your host for help? I either had my host do the install after giving them all the documentation regarding requirements and installation or I hire a professional to do it.

#134141 How to add "gift wrap" option?

Posted by pbannette on 31 March 2012 - 11:53 PM

I use global options and every product has a gift wrap option. The can choose:
Card Only, Gift Wrap only, Gift card and Gift Wrap.
I then have a global box underneath for the text for the gift card. This has worked for me. I have it sequenced high enough so that these two options are always after all other options.
I actually have two sets. For large products the gift wrap option costs more than small items.

#94070 Notification of Incomplete Orders

Posted by pbannette on 07 November 2010 - 11:53 PM

Hello,
Has anyone been able to solve this?
I came across this when the customers order was canceled by the cc processor. The order was created with a status of "incompleted" I did not know about it until the customer sent me an email wondering if the order went through or not. At least an email should go out to the admin/order department.
Thanks,
Bob
