I don't know if this answer is still valid for 1.3.5

Well, I know there are a few stores working fine on 1.3.5. At least I think so. But this whole forum has turned into a $#!+storm of people who are having problems with the new version. Although I'd love to add some of the new features to our store, quite honestly I don't think it's worth the risk, at least for us.

if it aint broke... just my $.02

In Topic: Guidance on how I could create a page like...

I'd say your best bet would be to either 1) do it like Page suggested, and use cat's/subcat's with multicolumn category views, which would basically accomplish what you're after - but indeed, non-yarn items would then display the same - and they'd still be able to click through to the details page of each yarn

or 2) If you're willing to pay, you might as well contact CS-Cart and ask them to mod your cart to give you two different category templates - one for the yarn categories, which don't allow drilling all the way down to the product details page - but rather, clicking on the thumbnail or title would lead to the detail picture popup (instead of product detail page) - so that they have only the choice of adding to cart. Then a separate category view for non-yarn products.

Show them your mock-up and explain very clearly what you want - I'd bet they could make this happen for you, and their prices are fantastic.

For lack of a better way to put it, that sucks!!!!! Are you totally unable to reinstall/re-restore the DB?

Precisely why I wait... a long time... before upgrades to our live store

Feel a bit guilty to say, but I play around with the betas, and non-live test installs, and then watch for posts like yours for at least a couple months till I'm sure all the bugs have been worked out.

Have you submitted a ticket to CS?

Just so you know, the Gift Vouchers page is still really messed up, when viewing the site in IE. It looks fine in Firefox, but take a look at it in IE. ;)
