#270072 Introducing Cs-Cart & Multi-Vendor 4.4.3 With Google Recaptcha

Posted by clips on 03 February 2017 - 02:19 PM

It has been a week since I posted about the "oops" error and how the site is still trying to find the old anti-bot info.  Has anyone else ran in to this issue when testing the upgrade?

Google reCAPTCHA did not work on test. Get an error saying...
-------------------

Oops!! Sorry that page must have moved. Incorrect or missing confirmation code.

Google Site key and Secret token were entered.  Sounds like it is looking for the old "Anti-bot validation" code because that is the same error message I get if I put in the wrong characters on the old captcha method. Using greeny responsive theme.

#238855 Is 4.2 Compatible With Mysql 5.6 ?

Posted by clips on 25 December 2015 - 09:45 PM

According to Mariya Vechkanova in support CS 4.2 does in fact support 5.6.  So yes, from now in to infinity we can all accept that CS-Cart in any version will support any version of MySql.  The reason I know this is because not only does CS-Cart generically state this information on their requirements page but they decided that they should start 10 days of support for asking them to clarify their generic information.

So when you find this post in 3, 5 or 10 years and wonder if any particular version of CS-Cart will work for sure with a particular version of MySql, not to worry!  According to the generic post from CS-Cart and Mariya, yes, yes indeed, it will always work!

The link of requirements shared says nothing direct about MySql 5.6, only PHP.  It only generically says "MySql version 4.1 or newer".  So has anyone installed "MySql 5.6" and did it work properly with CS 4.2.?

#237452 What Are People Using Other Than Searchanise On Cs4?

Posted by clips on 11 December 2015 - 02:58 PM

Be careful with the search from Cart Power.  We kept having problems with nightly errors when the dedicated and then a VPS kept trying to "dump" what was done in to the /tmp file.  The errors were caused because of the amount of information that the Live Search from Cart Power was creating and then when the database went to "dump" it on a daily basis it caused a load problem on the server.  We ended up turning it off and taking the add-on completely off our server. It ended up killing the resources of the server on 200 products!  Once deleted we did not have the issues.

We ended up moving back to the search from Alt-Team.

Please note that since we deleted the software, Cart Power did offer a refund, but we had already switched to the one from another vendor and we did not take the refund. I then asked if they would move the license to another site and they did that...but then they sent out an email saying that my upgrade license expired in 24 hours. So Cart Power went from offering a refund one day to ending the upgrade the next.  Needless to say I did not use the license on the other server because it was unclear if they had fixed the bug.

Please also note that we have other wonderful add ons from Cart Power and their service has always been top notch.  The only not so good experience would have been with their search add on.  I would NOT recommend it.

Nice job Cart Power!

#199815 Google Adwords Reporting Malicious Content

Posted by clips on 15 December 2014 - 03:13 PM

We got the same email from Seachanise acknowledging the malware. Speed issues and now malware. Hmmm. Bummer.

I already questioned Searchanise because of how much it slowed down the site and this makes me question it more. I just do not know if I want to use software linked to 3rd party sites like this. Especially if I'm going to get my hands slapped less than 2 weeks before Christmas!

We have seen hacking problems twice this year now and sadly both originated somehow from CS-Cart. I know that no one is immune from these stupid hackers, but I really must question if CS-Cart is doing enough to help keep us safe.

#195868 Cs-Cart & Multi-Vendor 4.2.3 Released

Posted by clips on 01 November 2014 - 02:31 AM

We have already been going through and fixing the errors. We only found a couple that we must have changed the titles for and something changed after the upgrade because the errors showed in Google the day of the upgrade. Once we created the redirect we marked it as "fixed" so it does not show on Google any more. I'm not for sure what further details or step-by-step instructions I can give. The errors showed up on Google, the links were broke, so I created a redirect and now it works.

I guess if we didn't change the "name" or title of the product it wouldn't happen, but quite honestly, it should not make any difference if we change this information. It should not touch the "SEO Name" or link to the product.

We so need a stable version! I agree that you should not add new things to releases like this and I also feel that these small "fix" releases should be more frequent. Another idea is to allow us to upgrade individual modules or add-ons so if we have tweaked something we can work on it separately.

#193346 Hosting My Own Server At Home? Is It Worth The Trouble?

Posted by clips on 03 October 2014 - 02:20 PM

We used to host our sites on our own servers. Keeping them up to date is crazy. We learned quickly that until we reach a high enough level it is absolutely not beneficial to self host. Right now we have a dedicated server and then we host some sites on shared hosting packages. We never had very good luck with a VPS. CS-Cart constantly had problems with the VPS packages...no matter what host we were with.

#192128 Searchandise Stopped Working

Ours is back up and running too.

@kmolchanov
There was nothing in the searchanise control panel. Only that items were active, but it did not show your other information like it normally does.

#191086 If You Don't Make Your Cart Stay In Https You Now Get A Redirect Error Wi...

Posted by clips on 30 August 2014 - 03:01 AM

Does it really matter anymore. CS-Cart doesn't appear to care and instead feels we should contact our customers and tell them to change a setting in their browser. That will go over well. As if the customer will actually stick around for us to be able to tell them that! I'm sorry, but I am so glad we are looking at other shopping carts. It doesn't make any difference how many bells and whistles CS-Cart has if they can't keep the basic core working or the basic working without screwing up our links and more.

#190248 Mv 4.2.1 - Seo & Mailchimp Integration

Posted by clips on 21 August 2014 - 10:34 PM

Why would this be a bug? If you try to activate the "news and emails" while you have the new "email marketing" CS-Cart will tell you "Warning: Add-on "News & e-mails" is incompatible with the following add-ons: E-mail marketing. It cannot be enabled". I'm just no so sure they thought it through all the way. Turning off all of those "news" items is just not a good idea in my mind. So without a doubt I would get their famous reply, "working as designed."
